Glasner is a Glazier....and is still a brilliant manager.

The sale of MG for £20m was a no brainier. He has been a honourable captain. Glasner has used that as a weapon.
However some ele of what he said is the sad and painful truth.
We have to move on and appoint Paddy for the remaining games. God willing we will stay up with points to spare.

What Guehi would have turned up? The same that faced Macclesfield?

Perhaps City and Guehi put their feet down? Do you force him to play anyway?

OG can hardly have been taken by surprise. Were his comments more a deflection from the dulling of his crown?

£20m is a steal but not with mere months to the end of a contract (he won't renew) and more than the nothing if he played to season end. Our club cannot afford that risk. The buyer club held all the cards, including the time of sale.

Ideally, we would have had an alternative lined up. We haven't. Unlike Man City we do not have the resources within financial rules to buy a ready made English international from the premier League.

We rode our luck with Guehi in the summer. I don't know what OG realistically thought would happen now?

We also need consider our reputation in the market as a selling club. The issue with Liverpool may have tarnished that.

Probably counting on Riad stepping in now that he’s back .

The offer for Guehi could have been 20 mill but now not last day of window

He’s was great gave us the best season but since then he’s like a spoiled child, he signed on at Palace, everyone knows what resources we have.

Best for all if he resigns today and leaves with dignity.

No that's gone.

But it's another repeat short term manager who can't get on with the club. Are we really worse than Brentford to be at?

i love Paddy. But why does anybody believe he can achieve success when we keep selling our talent at a moment's notice ? who will be leaving soon ? Hughes ? Munoz ? Richards ? its all a shyte-show.

any new upcoming talent, on the market from say The Championship, will not want to join Palace.

We have the players to stay up no problem .

This is just a wobble albeit an off the Richter scale one .

He did know what would happen because he said it himself on 7th January

Oliver Glasner believes that Marc Guehi will remain a Crystal Palace player until the end of the season, but he has not completely ruled out the defender's exit in January.
Guehi was the subject of interest from Liverpool last summer, and Glasner has previously said he expects the Palace captain to leave the club upon the expiry of his contract in the summer.
Manchester City have also reportedly emerged as one of the front-runners for the 25-year-old's signature, as injuries to Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol have left Pep Guardiola with scant options in defence.

Palace played out a 0-0 draw with high-flying Aston Villa on Wednesday night, and after the match, Glasner admitted that "every single player has a price".

"If the offer would have been high enough [last summer] and the club was fine with it and Marc wanted to go, then he wouldn't be a Palace player anymore," Glasner told Sky Sports.
"Last January would have been the same. Every single player has a price where a club will sell him, when you are Palace because we are not at the end of the food chain in football.

"I think Marc will stay but if he says 'I want to leave' and a club pays massive money with five months left of contract, then any player would leave if you are a club like Palace."

Glasners win ratio is 42.71, Pardews were 40.23, Pulis was 42.86, Facts not fantasies.
Right after doing my own home work , Didnt think I would be doing breakdown analysis again lol

but here are the stats Glasner has a 43% win rate take out the conference lge its 47% so he is a very clever man to fool everyone with them stats , dont make me do it again for another 10 years my head hurts 🤣🤣🤣

....the recent problem, all along, was HR Personnel.....losing good talent and failing to replace them. Hopefully we are now out of the woods.
But i reckon the money giants will want to rob Sarr soon ?

I agree the problem is recruitment. We should already know who the 4-5 potential replacements are for Sarr. That's how good clubs work and how good DOFs work. With the caveat being the playing system of whoever is going to be managing us next season.

I love Glasner. We are going to miss him when he's gone.
last year he got you to Wembley, and now Leipzig ? you gotta learn German ? He has ways of making you talk.

Has Glasner provided a more recent interview as to why he wants to leave Palace and the 'club project' growth that he evidently bought into? You see evidence of how much the club DOES mean to him when players score in crucial games and you see his frustration at disappointing performances. His frustration at last summer's weak transfer window was also felt enormously by the fans yet we could empathise at the same time with Oliver.

Glasner though has been the catalyst for Palace's historic achievements within the past 12 months. I just feel that this 'club project' needs to be re-emphasised to him with Club investors guaranteeing the resources that he requires...unless they won't...in which case this will turn away any other targeted Manager.

Timing, get out while all is good, Iraola as well, easier to find a club when all looks Rosie

Thats why Tony Pulis walked. Many good managers will refuse to work without strong financial backing.
And a good few managers seem somehow able to get clubs to spend more then they've got, or at least stand to benefit from it when they do. It rarely leaves the club in a better position, though, and often causes long term pain. Ask Leeds, or QPR, or Bolton, Birmingham, or whoever.

You could also ask someone like Allardyce, or particularly Harry Redknapp, whether they stuck around to help those clubs out when the financial chickens came home to roost. You'll have to get past security at their private estates and then through the tall gates to their mansions first, though.

No club should ever spend more than it makes, (including a sensible level of workable short term debt) just so the manager can achieve his ambitions, because he'll not be there to pick up the pieces. And that's regardless of the consequences. Relegation is infinitely preferable to administration.

Agreed. Also, the better managers will work with what they're given and don't moan publicly when star assets are sold. If they're a manager who will only come if money is spent then one has to question whether it's worth taking the risk employing them.

My take on Glasner is that he wanted the club to move forward faster than Parish and the board felt was prudent. As he said himself last week this will be his second longest tenure as a manager after his 4 years at Linz. He's a man in a hurry to reach the biggest clubs. I do wonder what part Parish's refusal to let Bayern speak to him played in Glasner's decision not to extend his contract with us.

Having said all that, he's taken us on a dream ride few of us expected to see in our lifetime and he may well depart having won us a second major trophy and with a place in next year's Europa League. But even if we fall at the last hurdle, we'll still always have 17th May 2025 to look back on and with today's technology, replay and replay to our heart's content.
