Gas Bottles - Assistance Required

I have inherited around 6 large gas bottles which were used for a gas BBQ over the years. I want to get rid of them so I am looking for some advice.

1. Some are Calor Gas, is it easy to return them (I live in Beckenham) and will it cost me. Somebody said petrol stations are a good place?

2. I need to check, but suspect some maybe from another manufacturer , would Calor Gas (for example) still take them or am I going to have to do it by manufacturer. Somebody told me they may have come from Homebase but that has now gone (at least in Beckenham).

I checked the Bromley waste site and they will not accept them.

Any thoughts appreciated.

you should be able to get a few bob for them.
otherwise if you advertise free to collect, Im sure a roofer / builder would be keen to take off your hands.
 
I get my bbq gas cannisters from Eden Park Garden Centre whereby when you make your first purchase you get striped for paying a hefty deposit on top of the cannister itself.
I too inherited an empty cannister and thought I'd take it down just to get my deposit back.
They told me I had to contact Calor gas direct to obtain the return of deposit monies and after calling them would only offer me a fraction of the original deposit.
Therefore defo sell them on ebay on a collect basis as potential first time buyers will save a wedge in not having to weigh out a deposit as it's a straightforward swap, empty for full.............
 
gas bottles (empty or not) are worth cash, if serviceable.

However, if a bit rusty and some fluid left inside, then put the bottles in the base of the nearest community bonfire pile. November 5 is not far away 😀
