Fredrikstad vs. Crystal Palace Match Thread

Awful performance and not happy about the manager again not willing to rotate or even use proper subs.

Giving people 3 minutes whats the point he's worse then Roy.

Kamada getting all that game time he was useless and just returned from injury.

It was a hard watch but I thought Kamada wasn’t that bad compared to some of the others. Sosa was disappointing and the rest of them can’t play against sides that have everyone behind the ball. We are set up to defend and hit teams on the break. In saying that our results this year have been better than most. Someone said after the first leg that it was like watching England playing against a lesser country and not able to break them down. Wasn’t much different tonight in my opinion. Our defending was good but going forward poor?

This is why we should have given other players a go we knew full well what they was going to do and they dont have the quality to do much.

We already was ahead it was for them to have to have a go we didn't need to press we got it all wrong.

Devenny had a good chance to score (if only had placed it in the bottom left corner) after initially getting the ball to Mitchell. Maybe Glasner is saving him for Viia. I doubt it but just hope Hughes is back

Which other players were you thinking?
Personally I’d have brought on Devenny for Kamada sooner, and Clyne for Munoz not because either is an upgrade but just for fresh legs (and in Clyne’s case experience). A bold move would have been to try Esse out and provide needed rest one of the forwards…

… but we found a way to qualify and that’s what really mattered. I’d have stopped played it out so deep from goal kicks in the cup final, what do I know? In Glasner we trust.

There were a couple of players on the Fredrikstad team who I thought we should take a closer look at. Their energy levels were exceptional!

Unless our poor play just made them look good.

Thoroughly agree, so glad I didn’t make the trip to Norway to watch that inept performance. Why can’t we put these lesser teams to the sword? Play like this against Millwall and we will be out of the cup!!
The match is only a part of away games ,away games in Europe especially . Its all about having a jolly with your mates or maybe family . Having a laugh ,a few beers and a bit of banter with the locals .

Can't wait to make the trip to at least one of the away games and I'll take a boring 0-0 as a point gained

COYP!

I would have done a complete rotation

Benetiz
Esse (Sarr)
Kamada (over Lerma position)
Clynn (Munoz)

Alt if team was what OG put out would have been second half to do changes Esse right wing and have Mitchell with Sosa on left side and Kamada with Lerma or Devenny and Kamada in middle.

No need to keep playing people for full 90m when we have important league game few days later.

Maybe last 10min give Rodney or Cardines time.

This Fredrikstad was not a threat Palace at times looks they couldn't be bothered and we really could have done what they did just park the bus.

Yes pity the guys (unless they got lucky) who spent a load of dosh getting and staying over there. They can't even say they went the one and only European trip
Did you see how nice it looked around there , I would still been happy as I had some nice views , to full back on to 👍

Our football was pretty dire but the game as a whole was still exciting to be there and witness in person - we nearly scored (twice) and the jeopardy of them scoring and taking it to extra time / penalties was ever present. I thought we defended well, we were just lacking in some creativity in the final third.

As others have already mentioned, we have had a fabulous time in Norway, an extended stay both before and after the game.

Our stay has been made all the more memorable as by pure coincidence my son & I booked the same hotel as the Palace team and they arrived on Wednesday at around lunchtime. They travelled back to the UK last night, so feel ok to post about it now. We have had an amazing experience and I can’t thank the players and staff enough for making our stay one that we will both never forget.

Huge respect to everyone but a special mention must go to Oliver G, Paddy McCarthy, Hendo, Julian Speroni, Nat Clyne, Esse & Chris Richards, who all went out of their way to make us feel SO welcome and appreciated.

Big up lads (and lasses) and well done for qualification last night! 🔴🔵

Excuse maybe but the plastic pitch seemed to slow the ball despite being watered and we never seemed to adapt to it
Definitely played its part. The ball Kamada played to put Sarr through near the end was a prime example. Great pass but just a yard or two short of pace. There were other examples of balls hit too fast. Adapting to the pace on astroturf is hard enough but when it changes over the course of the game it’s even harder.

Good to hear you had a great time and especially that young Esse was involved. He’s a talent and I worry that we’ve not made him feel welcomed or good enough.
Big up to you and your son for travelling to get behind the team.
