You on the Left bemoan Nationalism yet support it when it is in the guise of Irish, Scottish, Welsh, Cornish and Palestinian nationalism.

The Left like to champion every minority. And always against the mainstream. The British-Left likes the IRA ( with blissful disregard for the subtleties of the argument). The Left will stick an Irish flag on a Public Building in Croydon, happily. Sticking two fingers up to the Tories. However the same flag in Ireland is unwelcome.

And perhaps paradoxically, the Antifa Types parading through Ireland have a ton of middle class English accents. Renta mob, shipped over from Red brick Universities....proclaiming "whose streets ? Our streets" and yet they cannot even pronounce the name of most of these streets. Only arrived on the Ferry this morning. Still asking the local Hotel for a 'full English breakfast', and staring blankly at the money....trying to figure it out. The antipathy they have for the Irish Flag is reminding the locals of an occupying British army.

There are flags up around many towns and villages that haven’t been ruined by mass immigration. Perhaps in your eyes quintessential English villages contain extremists and criminals. How about all those Palestine flags ? seems to be tons of them everywhere ? And Palestine stickers on the back window of cars. Personally, i would never brand my car. Its only an invite for trouble. Imagine putting a Palace sticker on my car and parking it in Brighton. Not clever.

All this nonsense started years ago with local councils flying all sorts of irrelevant flags e.g. Pride or happy birthday to the President of some African nation etc. At the same time the council would get upset about a Union Jack or Flag of St George.

The sensible answer of course is for councils to either ban all flags (so pleasing nobody, but fair) or just the official flags of the UK. Of course I have just used the word council and sensible in the same sentence so I apologise for that. LOL

Some people who get very wound up by what they regard as “cancel culture” appear to enthusiastically embrace it themselves.

There are just two locally. Both on flagpoles in front gardens.

One flies the Union Flag. Whether for genuinely patriotic reasons or because they are UKIP/Reform/Farage fans I don’t know. It’s been there a while. The other is a Ukranian flag which has flown since Russia invaded. Of course the schools and churches fly the national flags on special occasions. Like St Piran’s day. No Palestinian or Rainbow flags to be seen here.

We have two flagpoles at our club. Flags are flown on all special occasions. Our own flag on one and either the Union Flag or the Cornish Flag on the other. Whenever we lose someone we fly them at half mast until after their funeral.

Just for your info although I do possess a pair of sandals I very rarely wear them in the UK and never, ever, with socks!
