I note that this, to be fair to them....quite famous group are disbanding....I think we can all suspect the main reason....but officially.
The reasons given are:
The first point....while being a valid complaint, it's just a factor of being a Premiership club. It isn't nice but what can be done. But it's an issue in the game all the same.
The second point....Of course there will be some level of restrictions or controversy on what is displayed at a game if the material is a heavily one-sided political issue or some insult that can get the club sued.....Even if I might agree or not agree with the sentiment.....The football club should not be used like a personal mega-phone for contentious issues.
The third point.....I think everyone can say that they are against harassment and legal action against fans, and I'd add my voice to that for most cases....it's a sport not life and death despite some treating it like that.
However, we at this forum know of supporters of this group who think nothing of harassing those they disagree with, I've had Police sent to my door and past employers contracted by people with the politics associated with this group.
I'm not going to blame the Fanatics proper for this because people associated with all groups can behave badly.....but when I see the comment complaining about harassment it brought this to mind.
So while I agree that harassment is bad.....on the right you might get called an idiot on a forum, while on the left some of these idiots try to get you sacked and your company ruined.
The fourth point....sustaining an active supporter culture.....Yeah, sure, but a supporting culture that only views supporting the club within a certain lens.....What they want and think.
Around 400 season-ticket holders in Block E were displaced to free up the area for the Fanatics/singing section because they wanted to relocate from Block B.....throwing their toys out the pram until they got what they wanted.
Forced people to move for them....Some didn't mind, but some did and had to lump it.
Younger fans and away fans? I think we all can agree that whatever can be done for them is a positive but it's always been a challenge.
