Fan Protest before the Hull Match?

I was disgusted that the Amex matchday experience was miles better ahead of us. But maybe it's because they are flying at the moment 😬

If I wasn't on holiday, I'd be joining the protest. We've had a unique identity and something special for the past 20 years. The club seem happy to let it fade away in favour of corporatisation. This isn't about results on the pitch, it's far bigger than that.

The only people who can stop the current decline in Selhurst Park is us, the fans.

There are many on here who were happy to see the back of the HF and what they were trying to achieve. If you're one of those who are now happily sitting in a silent stadium, the protest isn't for you. If however, you're dismayed at what we becoming as a club, you should join.

I’m really confused - but that’s easy… if you’re asking me how my match day entertainment has changed - it hasn’t. I get to the ground, have a beer, pie and wee!!! Get to my seat 10 minutes before and sing glad over.. halftime I have another wee, talk shite about the football I’ve seen and then watch the second half. Whistle goes and I leave - Taylor Swift playing ?! Well done you I don’t know her songs!!!
If the protest is about getting the self entitled HF back, then will someone just say that is what the protest is about!!! Ffs

Correction: talk about the sh*te football i've seen.

Not that well researched. I’m on the third paragraph and City very clearly had a ‘we won the lot with KDB’ tifo.

1. Palace has always been a local community club. Obviously the exposure of the club from being in the premier league has caused there to be more fans come in from other areas than Croydon and the surrounding areas, but ultimately Palace was, and is built on the local community. Not sure that selling out the stadium is justification to ask the question "where have all these average South Londoners been?". I have had the same season ticket for 15 years now (had a different seat for the years prior to that) and 90% of the seats around me are the same people. You see the same people week in/week out. They are the people that are having their matchday experience negatively impacted so that the "tourists" can listen to Taylor Swift straight after the full time whistle.

2. We play Glad All Over during the walk out and then it is over to the fans. Only recently have the fans been drowned out by some additional rubbish being pumped over the tannoy. It's unnecessary and no one has asked for it.

3. I'm not a member of the HF, nor ever had any affiliation with them - my opinion is very similar to theirs. Like them or not, they add to the club and it's sad that they have gone.

If you disagree with any of the points above, I'll ask you this question - in this seasons matchday experience, what makes us any different to Fulham, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs etc etc? If the answer is simply "the football", then we have no succession plan for the fans. That is the problem.
2. Is nonsense. We’ve been forced to play the Premier League anthem since we got promoted. That’s been in place for more than a decade, and for more than 50% of the time the HF has existed?

Exactly. I made this point earlier. Won't need to worry about this soon though.

I've read the whole thing, and honestly it's nonsense. It's self-important twaddle, pretending like we've hit some critical point when it reality almost everything that's moaned about in there has been in place for 15 years if not longer.

The HF proposed a reset of the whole stand. What they got was a compromise: a singing section in Block E. It left a bad taste in the mouth.
Yeah, it left a bad taste in the mouth of everyone who was moved from their seats I'm sure. The fact this is held up as something against the club is hilarious.

Yes it did!! Lost the seat in the back row that i had for 21 years!!

the ST+ also allows you to purchase another ticket when they come on sale to gold members (it's the same as having an additional gold membership) - We have ST+ so we can (hopefully) purchase additional tickets for games around Christmas when the two kids are back from Uni (both my wife and I have ST+) - Basically it's the same as the kids having gold memberships but also allows us to transfer our tickets to anyone who has a client ID - Plus all the other stuff that comes with having ST+ like extra parish points and sometimes earlier access to cup game tickets.
I don't need or want any of these things. I just want to be able to give my ticket to someone if I can't attend (and I fully accept it will need to be a member) I don't want to pay to do this.
If I buy chips or whatever crap they sell at the food concessions at half time do I need to pay £50 to offer someone a chip? It would be considered ludicrous, but this is exactly the same thing. My ticket my chips.

You don't have to pay, they do for the privilege of getting a chosen seat cheaper than online !

All they have to do is buy a membership for £25 the cheapskates!

That is a well written article. I have much the same feeling of disconnection from modern football as the author does, some of the same mild grief over the hole in my life where my enthusiasm for football used to be, and much of the same frustration at the nature and causes of the change.

Thing is, he's projecting all of that onto what is really, when all the wider angst is stripped away, a very short set of complaints about how Palace is run. He would like the HF back and supported by the club, and he wants all the daft American noise switched off.

Fine. I don't mind either way on the first point, and agree wholeheartedly with the second.

But why not just tell the club? We have a supporters association for stuff like this.
A protest is what you do when you've tried everything else without receiving a reasonable hearing.

One of the few things as bad as the soulless greedy s*** running through the veins of modern elite football is this performative, us and them, protest against power mindset. It seems a lot to do with mistaking self-importance for righteousness, angst for reason, and is rooted in the culture of grievance.

Has anyone organising this would-be protest even attempted to gather fans opinions on match day experience and share it with the club? If not, why not? If so, what happened?

These people seem to be flying past 'Go' without collecting £200.
