FA Cup 3rd Round Macclesfield

Do you think for example Chelsea fans, Spurs fans or even West Ham fans would be brushing it off if they were in the same situation?

Chelsea and Spurs fans wouldn't because they are mostly soulless, entitled pricks who support a 'big' club expecting glory that will somehow reflect well on their personal egos.

I'm a long-term Palace fan since I was 6, because Palace is in my blood and in my roots. I know how it feels to lose to Tranmere, Grimsby and Scunthorpe, so when we play teams from lower leagues I respect them and understand them. I don't throw a hissy fit if those teams get lucky and beat us. I take it on the chin, applaud them off the pitch and wish them well, understanding that is what football is about, that is what being Palace is about.
No other team would win the cup and then go out the next season to a sixth tier club. And you know what? That's actually what I love about Palace. Never a dull, predictable moment.
Maybe that's not for some people, well maybe they might be better off supporting a Big'time Charlie club like Chelsea.

It was a big deal for us to win the FA Cup and if we can win the Conference League it will have been an amazing 12 months with 3 trophies. Being out of both cup competitions actually improves our chances of winning the Conference and finishing top half in the league. When that happens I won’t give a flying f*ck about losing to Macclesfield and neither will the TV pundits. As for rival fans, Sing your songs, who gives a f*ck, we won the FA Cup. It’s a great time to be a Palace fan!

I remember some shockers as I am sure you do and everyone else can. The 9-0 at Anfield really hurt. There are others too that I look back on and still cringe. But... The reason I say its the worst result in our history is statistically it is.
No FA Cup holder has EVER been knocked out of the cup by a non league team
No 6th tier team has EVER knocked a top tier team out the cup.
No team 117 places below Palace in the football pyramid has ever beaten Palace period!
It was over 100 years ago the last time a non league team knocked out a top division team but even then they were in a higher division than Macclesfield. And the team that got knocked out then? Wolves. Who knocked them out? Crystal Palace!
These for me are the reasons why there is no doubt this is our worst ever result in a one off game.
I was a wolves fan in early 1900s and still not over it

Totally agree! When we beat Fulham on 7th December and rose to 4th I knew the goal was as you have stated. Top 10 and Conference League as realistic but very good aims which would signify a very good season.
Hopefully we will get players back by February and Oli can get the team going again.

Yes, it's only a game of football. It's nice to win, but it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of life. I get it that some people are heavily emotionally involved in following their team, but there is nothing they can do to effect results. If you support a mid table team, things aren't always going to go the way fans want, that's why they are a mid table team, who has the occasional day in the sun.

Agreed! However, it will only go away if we can say “we then won the Conference League” At this moment I feel that is impossible on form and team selections since beginning of December. I hope so much that I’m wrong and the disgraceful performance and humiliation is replaced by a 3rd trophy?

This is it... had we swapped the 6 cup wins for 4 league wins, finished in Forests position, 65 points, and conference league, we would have been really happy.

I know I would have.

And we wouldn't have had a trophy either for our trouble...

We need to take the conference serious as it's a massive shout to get europa.

However, if we finish at least 12th this year... I'd be happy.. regardless.

We need to reset in the summer, we need a manager that knows we are a mid table club, looking to win a cup... or crack top 8... without breaking the bank.

We are 4 points off top 6.
Or alternatively, 3 wins from safety.... we are on course for matching last seasons finish..

Either way, it looks like we have prem football next year...and it's January.. this is great.

Can we grab a trophy in Europe, why not!!

Trouble is, we need to learn from this season.

It certainly was a disaster even thinking about it a week on, the players were not at and if you are only going at it at 90% you are going to come unstuck. As for that pitch it was s***, it looked s*** on television god knows what it must have been like to play on. I played on various artificial turfs and the ball does bounce and act differently.

There is no way in a million years that second goal would have gone in had it been played on grass, do we know if we had a practice session on it before hand?
Also the surface looked and acted differently to the one we played on in Norway, where the ball seemed to move slower and the players had difficulty in getting the ball out from under their feet.

Anyway I’m still pissed off, but we move on…..
