f***ing Sky!

Club's new claims to be from then: Cromwell mentioned "How great delite such simple folk get from the bladder of pork in the color of the Cristal Palace".
A red and blue bladder would certainly be better for kicking than eating - times might have been hard but there are limits.
Going to a match with old Ollie would have been a spectacularly joyless experience.
Actually Selhurst might have suited him. Whartons and all.

Quite a few of the podcasts I listen to have us in trouble this season with the Europa League straining our squad, which isn't seen as strong enough.

I don't understand the anger towards these pundits, its not like their predictions have any impact on what actually happens.
If anything they offer a much more balanced view than us Palace fans as they're outsiders looking in.

It’s like family. I can slag off my brother and have a bitter feud with my cousins but the moment somebody from outside criticises them the family closes ranks.

You couldn't be more wrong , did they dissect us or base it all on europa lge and not knowing our squad fully , they all have big club mentality , if your not a big club and in europe then you are in trouble , is there total thinking ,
They haven't seen us play a single league game yet , and more and likely based it on our friendly results and losing 1 player ,
They never allow club fans question there thinking , we know more about our club in our little finger than these so called experts ,

We are not a club in turmoil , and sold ever star player or change manager ever 5 minutes , we have brought players in , and maybe a couple more , our kids may surprise us this year and give something extra , thats why I never listen to there predictions , very simple They are guessing , and if you buy into what they say you are easily lead

I have actually been in communication with an erudite soul who has concluded that we are in for a challenging season and he cited his reasons as thus :

A new manager, one relatively inexperienced in top-flight management and being thrust into the rigours of the PL.
The loss of Lacroix and no experienced 'Oven ready' replacement. His loss on the back of the Guehi departure and other experienced players might move to 'Pastures New' like Wharton.
Signings of relatively some unknown players who might take time to adapt to the PL and some of course might not be successful.
The extra workload due to participation in the 'Europa League'.
He did believe that Nottm Forest and Everton were better equipped as we spoke and he had a hunch that our supporters need to "gird our loins".
He could of course be proved totally wrong as he admitted !

He has based it on what might happen to players staying or going , many of the top managers in the prem didnt have prem experience , as I said it nothing more than pure guess work on there part , we watch our team week in week out they don't

I couldn't be more wrong about what exactly?

You've basically invented an argument I didn't make.

I never said Palace are in turmoil, that we've sold every star player, or that the pundits are definitely right. I said I can understand why outsiders might look at a club playing European football with a squad they think is a little thin and predict we might struggle. That's hardly an outrageous conclusion.

You also say, They haven't seen us play a single league game yet.
Well... neither have we. That's generally the small inconvenience with making a pre-season prediction. 😀

And yes, they're guessing. That's literally what a prediction is.

Also, you're very confidently telling me these podcasts don't know our squad and have just based everything on Europe, friendlies and losing one player, despite having absolutely no idea which podcasts I'm talking about, what they've watched, or how much research they've actually done. That's quite an impressive prediction in itself.

As for Palace fans knowing more about Palace than pundits do, obviously we do. But we're also spectacularly biased. If knowing your own club automatically made your predictions more accurate, every fan forum in the country would have their team finishing six places higher. 😀

In pre-season, with managerial changes and player 'Churn' perhaps we are all guessing to an extent.
As the season unfolds and we watch our teams play we get a better perspective of our standing and can make informed judgements.

In my case in the 'Relegation Zone'. 😛 😛 😛
