Ezes pen

Sadly, when he stepped up, I had a feeling he would do the infamous 'stutter run-up'
and so it proved. Why he, and others, don't just do it the Sarr way - stroll up and put it in the corner I never understand. The 'stutter' technique is to see which way the keeper is going to go - but it doen't always work.

The commentator recalled that Arsenal beat us 8-7 on pens in the Carabaou Cup but different pressure I guess.

So glad that none of our team had to go through the same agony in Leipszig

When I see Arteta giving him a cuddle I knew he was taking one, Arteta and his team clearly hadn’t done their homework on penalty takers and Eze obviously kept stumm and didn’t remind him about the community shield and Newcastle away for us 🤣

Felt sorry ebs walking up for pen Just knew he’d still do his palace pen walk up and miss Just put your foot through it lad
Correct. Every player should whack the ball as hard as they can ensuring they are on target. It's not rocket science. Don't stutter, dance, watch the goalie or try to head it. Smack the ball. You might not always score but on the occasions where it clips the goalie's foot everyone will say you were unlucky rather than a total prat.

To be fair Gabriel put his foot through it and look what happened.
He did but he also put his foot under it.
It's often claimed that players can't really practice penalties but surely hitting the side netting is a learnable skill for most professionals and you'd think with so much at stake clubs would concentrate more on improving the technique required.
Justin Devenny could run the training for us.

The players do practice penalties but what you can't train for is the pressure. In training I bet Gabriel is hitting the side netting 9/10 times but you can't account for how a player is going to react in the moment. Same with Eze, I bet in training he is always scoring with his run-up, but in the real situation he just tries to put the ball that extra millimetre into the corner because of the pressure and ends up putting it wide.

I concur with these sentiments. 👍

I can't figure out if Eze is a bit dim, arrogant or just ill-advised, but to do the same failed procedure again and again and not realise that just maybe a change in approach is in order. Particularly when he is accurate from a deadball situation just outside the box. Very odd indeed. I was surprised to see Tuchel name him in the England squad for the World Cup, and the last thing England need is Eze taking a penalty.
