The next Uche

Possibly a good call there mate.

Together they would cost us near fifty million to buy both at the season's end.

But this guy as a loan without playing restrictions puts an end to the Uche transfer.....Gives us rest options.

Unless they are going to play Uche in midfield.....which probably isn't going to happen.

Nevertheless I can't quite get over spending 50 million on the Wolves striker who has one goal this season.

Let's hope it works out.

I'd be interested to know if the latest two signings were made in consultation with Glasner or, as he is leaving he would just have to accept what Parish chooses.

Either way I hope Larson plays against Forest and replaces Mateta if he is still on our books seeing tomorrow is the transfer deadline

Does triple centre half’s, attacking full backs, 2 midfielders and inside forwards instead of wingers not strike you as a manager specific set up?

That isn't really my point.

My point is that all of those you mentioned; centre halves who play in a 3, attacking full backs, inside forwards, can all also find homes in conventional systems as well.

I wouldn't be surprised if Uche is sent back to Getafe before the end of the month, assuming these new deals get over the line.

There's certainly no chance we buy him as things stand.

I do agree with you, but, majority of our fans have now become like other fans & want success more & more, which means having 'ready made' players & to hell with the Academy. Sad really.
To be cynical academies in the Premier League mainly exist to help balance the books and any player who makes it through to the first team on a regular basis is an extra bonus. Some will of course but you'd expect that what with big clubs having their pick of the best youngsters available.

I agree, The JSL deal has Matt Hobbs name all over it. Lets hope he sees something the rest of us dont. Or he'll be needing a tin hat as well as JSL!

My understanding and take on Uche is it is very similar to when Mateta was on loan to us. I believe Uche has a 17mill buy that is triggered if he makes X number of appearances or starts. I think the club is deliberately making sure that buy clause is not triggered as it will put Palace in a stronger bargaining position at the end of the season. "He wasn't good enough to warrant the buy clause, but we'll offer you Y instead" At worse we agree to buy him for 17mill previously agreed. I seem to recall Mateta originally coming to us on loan with a similar buy out that was not triggered so we negotiated a better price.

Personally I feel the raw Uche is better than the raw Mateta was and with traing and coaching has potential, as Mateta improved. I believe Uche was playing non-league football not so very long ago so his rate of progress has been good and it is a reasonable gamble that it will continue to be so.

I have seen Guessand 'Plough his furrow' for A.Villa and I have not been enamoured by his performances.
I have not heard of any interest in him but as I have stated before I don't receive a 'Running commentary' of latest developments.
That’s why he’s available I suppose, if he was any good he’d be a regular in their team
