England team

Usual OTT from the media. Yes it was a better England performance but Serbia were woeful.

We haven't conceded a goal in this group because it is so poor.

Anthony Gordon was rubbish (again), Reece James kept fouling people unnecessarily, Kane got his goal but didn't do much else.

Morgan Rodgers had a good game as did the Chelsea winger who scored. Rashford had a nice little cameo and maybe just maybe getting his form back.

These easy groups do nothing for the team I would rather we were in a competitive group to battle harden them.
 
I'm surprised to say I actually enjoyed the game. A much pacier and more positive approach from England. Serbia were poor and they got a thrashing from a decent England team. The one obvious weakness for me was James going forward, clueless. Madueke had a very good game and I think Gordon deserves another go.

Hope it's not a flash in the pan and sideball is back next time.

I would agree with the standard of the opposition in the groups , we cant really fail to qualify . FIFA should at least have preliminary rounds for the more than useless nations ,the better sides get little if anything from playing in walkovers . Last night on paper anyway was our toughest match of the qualifiers
 
That reminds me . I was talking to a friend from Malta I used to play football with a while back and the World Cup came up . He was pleading with me ,as if I had anything to do with it to give his country a chance to get to the World Cup finals ,how much it would mean to his nation ect ect .

So why not ? We could have a group of all the most useless , Malta , Gibraltar ,Leichtenstien ,Andorra ,San Marino ect with a WC spot up for grabs .That means a team wont qualify that might have (sorry Scotland ) but one it keeps the dream alive for every nation and two it means we don't have to play the useless tw**S in meaningless qualifiers

Moldova would probably agree after getting stuffed 11-1 by Norway. Haaland got 5 and Aasgard 4 after coming on with 25 minutes to go.

I know, strange isn’t it? I think that last happened against the Dutch in 1996 🤣
 
The Columbian newsmen described Wembley as the "Cathedral of Football" after we won the Cup with Munoz and Lerma.

There are few grounds around the world that hold such prestige. Any team of any size who get drawn in our group target that as the one they want to play their best. Hence, England appear better away than at home.

Also, smaller nations must play the low block. Muscle memory training at defence and breaking play leading to frustrating and turgid matches. Wait till Palace play the really small teams in the Conference.

The mistake Serbia made was they tried to play. You cant do that against the top nations. They got punished.

I think that is the fairest way. It would also be more interesting for their fans. It must be awful watching MOTD highlights on Andorran TV. Endless replays of the shot the guy had that ballooned over the bar. In depth analysis of how their goalkeeper takes his kicks etc.

If you put the minnows in their own group pre qualifying they actually have a chance at winning games so maybe the winners are in a better shape when they play the bigger teams.

There is another solution. Most of these countries are minnows due to a small population. FIFA could relax the player qualifications for these minnows allowing them to expand the gene pool.

i was thinking along those lines too. Feel sorry for those very small nations. Give one of them a real chance of a place in the final rounds !
