So Tuchel was at the game last night and sitting right behind Steve Parish, and they were talking a fair bit. There's an international break for WC qualifier games 21st and 24th March.

So who was Tuchel eyeing? Adam Wharton surely is now on his radar, Guehi showing he's a shoe-in, Ebs is looking back to his old self but it didn't completely click for him last night. Not much to do for England's #1, a decent nearpost point blank stop near the end but that was it.

Villa shipping 4 didn't do Konsa any favours, Watkins was in the pocket of Guehi and LeCroix all game aside one chance which he utterly duffed well wide.

Hard to imagine Wharton doesn't make it after last night - his profile really is one-of-a-kind amongst English midfielders.

I think Guehi is nailed on as well, and probably Henderson as one of the 3 keepers.

I don't think Eze has done enough given the competition for attacking places, but he has been much improved over the last two games.

Despite the result, I thought Konsa was impressive as well as Rogers - wouldn't be surprised if they both make it.

I'm Not happy to see our most valuable assets risking injury on another pitch. Nor getting tapped-up in the dressing room "hey mate, u wanna play in the Champions League ?".
But hey ho. Its the price you pay for having good players. Millwall/Charlton need never worry about the England squad.
And if they play like Messi, then maybe we can get a ton of money for them ?

I wonder does the contract , of every Palace player, have a contingency for international football ? a. You play well for your country and xyz. b. You get broken by your country and ......whatever other contingency.

The prospect of Mateta helping the France team fills me with horror.

Great summary and I agree on all points.

I also think neither England fullback/wingback starting berth is nailed down. Mitchell/Chilwell might be an outside bet for a squad place.

Wharton, Henderson and Guehi should be shoe ins. Eze has done enough (yet) to justify his place in the squad.

Not sure I'd describe Wharton as a shoe in, but only because it was his first start in months.

That being said, I think he's the best no6 in the country and if I was England manger I'd 100% pick him. (Its actually insane for him to have put that performance in after the season he's had)

Agree on Eze, he's getting better but still not performing well enough. Wharton played him through with a great ball and Eze miss controlled badly.
