Just watching this on TV. Manager has decided to swap the full team at half time. Surely getting the starting team to play a full 90 minutes in the conditions makes more sense to see which players are up to the conditions ? 11 days to our first match must have the 11 ready ? Get them out there and see if they are up for it ? 35 minutes in and frankly looks like a kick around in the local dogs park.

Well I cannot see how this lot will get through the group stage. Awful and embarassing especially as the Jocks are 4-0 up at HT against Bolivia.

Can anyone remember when England looked good? I'm going to put some serious money on them not getting through the group stage.

Why why why are we so sh1te?

Yep. Haiti beat New Zealand 4-0 a few days back. Commentators such as Lee Dixon saying big teams being beaten by minnows and then writing off these scores in relation to the tournament. What is wrong with getting some momentum with a settled team and then hitting the tournament ?

Looking at both 11’s put out tonight, I can’t think of a poorer looking England squad for many a year? Surely those left out like our own Mitchell and Wharton together with Palmer and Foden and I’m sure there are others would make a stronger squad?

Watching Brazil vs Egypt at the moment - currently 1-2 (amusingly on ITV X the sound is 10s behind the action)
Proper game - lots of intensity - both sides trying to win
England - NZ was literally a non-competitive walking football game of nothingness - just low level aerobic training
Kane of course rises to the occasion

Honestly think both teams struggled with the heat. I wish NZ had England's Group. NZ were the only team undefeated in the South African World Cup - fun fact! I've put money on England. Well, it's all a bit of fun!! 🙂

I’m sure the only reason they bother with these friendlies is to sell kits. They’re not competitive so why bother? Just play two teams of eleven from the squad against each other behind close doors

Why?

The full squad only arrives today.

We will see a more complete arrangement v Costa Rica.

But don't expect them to go all out.

The money helps fund all this.

And behind closed doors (which they will do as well) does not condition you to playing in that weather with the added pressure of an opponent who wants to beat you, a large expectant crowd and a world audience in the millions.

They hardly qualified as an opponent who wanted to beat us, that’s the problem, there was no intensity which is of no use at all, apart from selling tickets and kits

Some PSG players featured on Thus and some were on the bench for France ? The only issue highlighted last night was the fact that England are a one trick pony team.

The selection has been shambolic. The manager seems pretty poor. Can't believe they've given him a new contract before the obvious point of having to sack him when public opinion turns. During this tournament judging by the players selected and the slow tactics.

I agree the selection but the slow pace is critical with that climate.

They were a national team who had played together. All you need for a first game

In 1990 we battered Sardinia 10 nil as our first pre tournament warm up. The All Whites are better than them.
