Dwight McNeil

McNeil, is entitled to be pissed off, but his situation happens time and time again in football. He can’t be more annoyed than Mateta, someone was leading him on for weeks, it would explain his demands to leave, that someone being Milan, only to leave him at the last minute looking like damaged goods.

According to ssn chief reporter solhekol, everton kinda moved the goalposts late on but the player was kept up to date with it all. And he says palace are sympathetic to the player's situation because although a deal was finally agreed we just ran out of time.

As frustrating as it is for McNeil (and I personally rate him as a player and would've really like to have seen him playing for The Eagles) , he has to realise that the 11th hour pull out was not of his making nor a reflection in any way on him.

I listened to a caller on talksport earlier say. What if Mcneil is left on the bench for a few games. Is his misses going to go on social media again and have a rant?

Why would anyone want to buy him and have that trouble now if he's not playing?

There are some people in the UK who have to work 5, or now under the new Labour laws 10 years, to find out if they can even stay, often in very shitty jobs - now thats uncertainty. 48 hours is laughable. Especially when you consider the pay off that will come with that life of luxury.

Being disappointed about not getting a job placement and "mental health" are two very different ball parks and only undermines people who truly suffer with mental issues.

Turns out a loan agreement was reached with 45 minutes of the window closing, so it is a bit strange that this could not be finalised. As for the drama with McNeils girlfriend and her social media post, these things happen. When you are on the gravy train 🚂 it doesn’t necessarily stop at every station.

What’s more he is still on the Everton payroll, so I cannot see what the problem is at all. Women should really keep out of things sometimes, if I was McNeill I would definitely trade her in she sounds like a right money grabber!

And that is the issues. Because she thinks she is someone on social media her post will have attracted all sorts of people who have no interest in football. Most fans understand that these things happen and so does the media. However her speaking out was a new angle to be exploited.

She has done him no favours by interfering in his work. It reminds me of Jason Lee's girlfriend when she complained about fans singing "he's got a pineapple on his head". She just made it worse.

I can't see what his problem is, he is still employed by Everton and getting paid handsomely. After Mateta deal fell through, we didn't want to buy him, only loan which Everton refused.
It's life just get on with it, he was injury prone anyway. Palace are left with a sulking French lump as Milan pulled out of the deal, didn't see Parish moaning how it was effecting his mental health and how let down he is, it happens people get on with it.
i do have sympathy for the player but in football this happens all the time. To focus purely on this deal is unfair to all involved.

In terms of the McNeil saga, Forest approached Everton a day or so before us and that was rejected, so Everton were clearly playing hardball.

As has been mentioned the £10m initial fee got pushed up to £20m and then we asked for a loan first, which appears a very sensible approach.

With Everton not giving us permission/agreeing to the deal until late in the window closing it was always going to be an issue. I'm not even sure we if undertook a medical. With McNeil's fitness issues this was always going to be rushed.

In terms of mental health whilst i have some sympathy i have more for the league 2 players who get 1 year contracts and have to go through this every 12 months for probably 1/50th of the money.

I don't think he would really improve our squad that much, so I don't really care. Ed Maylon was saying on the FYP podcast that he thought we'd be better off with Franca than McNeil based on their metrics, which was interesting.
