Diane Keaton

Very sad news. She always appeared to be a bright, bubbly and happy lady. I'd almost forgotten she had a key role in The Godfather, and she was excellent in Baby Boom, one of my wife's favourite films and very funny with Jack Nicholson in Something's Gotta Give.

Will be remembered as a great actress.

RIP.

Sadly no more 😪

‘’Michael, who’s that scary man?’’

‘’That’s Luca Brazi’’

‘’Michael, Presidents don’t have men killed’’

‘’Oh. Who’s being naive Kay?’’

Great writing.

The acting by both of them in Godfather II when she reveals she had an abortion is excellent. His bubbling rage… She played the part of Kay brilliantly. Straight American woman from a respectable background with opinions partnered with a man whose mafia head father was nearly assassinated ended up needing a wife who didn’t object. Ideally Italian or better Sicilian.

And the film company said he was too soft to be the man until Coppola filmed the restaurant murder scene at the end of week 1 of filming.

A great partnership on screen and off screen I hear.

Seems a nice lady. And she was still working up until last year.

That scene in Annie Hall when She was describing how her 'grammy' made her little gifts:

'Did your Grammy do that for you?

Woody Allen: 'No. She was busy being raped by Cossacks'.

In a number of movies she proved she was a good actress. Unfortunately she also made a bunch of turkeys whether those were the only available roles or her poor choice I don't know.

Anyway she was excellent in some big pictures. RIP

Diane Keaton was a great actor.

It got me thinking. The portrayal of the wives of Michael Corleone and Tony Soprano were absolute opposites.
One wife was trying to hold the moral high-ground, and trying to be a nice person. The other wife was complicit in all the crimes and enjoying the high-life on the blood money.
But the nice wife had an abortion against the wishes of her husband, while the other wife didnt.

Because Diane Keaton died I rewatched Annie Hall – forgotten how great a film it is. At the beginning there is a monologue where Woody Allen talks about getting old. The last part reminded me of a certain serial poster on here.

I think I'm gonna get better as I get older, you know? I think I'm gonna be the balding virile type, you know, as opposed to say the, uh, distinguished gray, for instance, you know? 'Less I'm neither o' those two. Unless I'm one o'those guys with saliva dribbling out of his mouth who wanders into a cafeteria with a shopping bag screaming about socialism.

That scenario might have been better for him than the way things have worked out.
