Dean Henderson

Every game now he pulls out a game changing save and we then go on to win. What’s more he has a really solid defence to Marshall in front of him which undoubtedly helps. My own view is he most probably is the most improved player this season. You could see beating United meant more to him than most people….

I always liked Johnstone - who did well for us and was better than Guaita, who wasn't bad.
But Henderson is starting to look like he could be our best ever. He's certainly at least the best since Speroni.
I think Henderson up there with the clean sheets now - not top, but off the top of my head top English keeper for clean sheets. The only one I think could be close is Pickford - who, in fairness, has done a lot for Everton over the years. I wouldn't say he's kept them up singlehandedly but I would say they might have gone down without him.
I'm actually not happy that Johnstone hasn't done well, although it's probably better for us - I always thought he was a good keeper and didn't particularly blame him for not wanting to be a no. 2. We got decent money for him.
Henderson looks like he was worth the transfer outlay - although it seemed bizarre to buy a goalie at the time. Fair play to the club for getting him. They knew he was worth it obviously.
He’s doing very well. Will have to go some though to be better than Nigel Martyn in the best ever list

While I agree with posters about his 'attributes', one poster alluded to saying, every game he pulls off a world class game changing save, WHY? that to me says our defence isn't as great as everybody seems to say it is. I hope to god Hendo continues as he does. Great 'keeper.

I get a feeling he has an assist for us but I thought it was a kick. This season I believe but I haven't looked it up. Could have just dreamt it.
The one I'm thinking of wasn't an assist but Mateta's hat-trick goal v Villa which started with Henderson throwing the ball out to Eze. The ball bounced just in our half and ran on for Eze to pick it up before running forward and providing JP with the opportunity to bury it (which he did).

Enjoy it all again.

There is a 'Palace Legends' event in Chequer Mead, East Grinstead,Wed 26th Feb starring Nigel Martyn and Mark Bright.
I am seriously considering attending and if so perhaps I will be able to extend the hand of friendship towards the great and good on HOL !!!
I certainly count Nigel Martyn as one of our Legends.
A long way for him to travel from Yorkshire !
I shall be there and look forward to a drink with you Will. You will recognise me because as I am the same age as you.

Tots

I miss Wayne Hennesey's distribution - equally able to launch the ball into either the Main or Arthur Waite stand ion the full. Deano decent with both feet and does not flap. Pickford has the calming demeanour of a man hopped up on red bull and amphetimes.

When he arrived he seemed almost timid in the air, and reluctant to command our defenders. He also made a few misplays in some early games. Gradually the miscues have drifted away as his comfort and confidence have risen.

Now in addition to making first-class reaction saves that only a handful of keepers make as consistently as he does, Henderson regularly makes good decisions about when to come off his line to play balls in the air. He's a huge asset who appears to play with controlled passion – unlike the unbridled Pickford – and who appears to command respect and affection from his teammates. If it weren't for JPM, he might be regarded as our Player of the Season.

—And all this from a massive Sam Johnstone fan.

Martyn’s the best I’ve ever seen at Palace. By a long way.

I was gutted when Johnston left, thought he better than Henderson in every department. Henderson looked like he lacked in confidence a la Hennessy. But he’s grown 4 inches since Johnston left.
Really good keeper now, more than good enough for us.
Looked at him and anana at old Trafford, massive difference in class.

Dean Henderson has played with assurance making some splendid saves.
When he was competing with Sam Johnstone there were some who believed that Johnstone was the better goalkeeper and were a tad disappointed that he was sold to Wolves.
Whilst Henderson has flourished, Johnstone has lost his place to Jose Sa.
