I am sure that those were factors. On his age though he’s 30. In football terms that isn’t old. It’s not like he’s 37!

He could have given us at least two or three seasons. Right now we desperately need some solidity, continuity and leadership. Selling one of our most important players and replacing him with an unknown quantity with no Premier League experience looks like a huge gamble.

As you say we don’t have all the information but based on the information we do have (the quality of the squad) our team is a lot worse off than when we entered the window. Maybe I am being pessimistic but in terms of quality, suitability for the system and characters this looks like the weakest squad we’ve had for a good few seasons.

Im surprised so many players want to leave. I'm sad to see Munoz go, and especially to Forest. But its far too early to judge because Munoz's replacement has only played one game. At least it seems the club bought his replacement first.

Yes that is true. In fact we have gone from only one right back to having an abundance such that Cardines and Imray were deemed surplus to first team requirements. I’m not judging his replacement. He might be great, another Lacroix, he might be ok but a downgrade, another Pino, he might not be up to it at all, another Esse. What I do know is it is a massive gamble because if his replacement is a downgrade we are in trouble given how important Munoz was to the way we played

I don't think it is because they want to leave Palace, Mateta, Muñoz and Sarr are at the last chance saloon for a bigger contract and a signing on fee, they want the nelsons not the trophy's.

I think we have more right back optons Óscar Mingueza.
Pino there is more to come for sure.
There could have be a gentleman's agreement with Munoz, there was that publicity around Barcelona a few months back.

My point was more the question of how can the club be close to spending restrictions, given they're turning a profit on sales? In contrast, Ipswich can lose £250 million. Do the regulators really like Ed Sheeran, or something?

I don't understand it.

For me it's not criticism of the club per se as much as disappointment/resignation at waiting so long for any real success to find we're still struggling to keep players. Being a Palace fan has never been about winning trophies, as great as they were, but the hope we could at least compete to some extent, usually through a collective approach with a team playing for each other which is just not enough any more.
There are 70+ clubs in the league who'd give their right nut to be in the position we've been in for the last decade yet we're still at the kids' table. We can't afford or attract £100 m players and if we happen to somehow find one we can't keep him.
Of course everybody wants Sage to pull it all together, and who knows he may be able to but at the moment it feels as though the Premier League just isn't worth it.
 
In the absence of Munoz and Sarr (as it stands) we have lost what in recent seasons what was our complete threat down the right hand side.
Teams from Manchester City through to Liverpool and Villa were unable to deal with it.
It meant that went into those games always having a chance, and against other of the better teams that would not/ could not sit deep.

Their records on goals and assists will take some replacing (if Sarr goes).

Now Sarr may stay, turn his around, and build a similar understanding with Khalaili but that takes some leap of faith and as a minimum would take some time to gel.

Always a disappointment when a fans favourite moves on. Going by the performance of his replacement against Man City we may have another favourite in time to come. In defence of Parish I see 22 mil as a good amount for a player now 30 and in truth didn’t look so good in the last few months of last season and against Everton in our first match this season. Yes, he had a good World Cup but still didn’t look as good as previous seasons with us. Lerma also had a good World Cup but prem football is different to that and in my opinion we have seen the best of Munoz in our colours. Good luck to him and let’s also hope his replacement (much younger) becomes as good a player for us. Hopefully a good deal for us, time will tell?

We need to see Khalali play a few games or more to form a judgement. Against City he was ok while being part of a defence that conceded four times and offering no attacking threat. It was a difficult game though and he in no way disgraced himself. The next few games will give us an idea about him.
