Dan Casey

An attacking midfielder who can play at centre forward and as a right winger and scores goals? Looks like a prospect who's been released because Arsenal can afford to bring in proven players. Could be a very good bit of business.

Ummm can we have the guy with the hair who assisted them both, instead of the tap in merchant??

I don't disagree.

But what I will say is the positional sense of being in the right place at the right time is a vastly under rated part of being a striker.

It was Lineker's whole game.....just an average player other than that.

Maybe that's this guy's thing as well.

The video shows him scoring three goals in an U18 game. This doesn't really tell us anything. The fact that the compensation agreed is £1 million suggests the club think he has a genuine chance of pushing for the first team. I also doubt he'd turn down Arsenal's offer unless Palace have shown him a path to the first team, but who knows.

He was rather rapid as well! So many of his goals were good anticipation and runs in behind as well as the goal hanger type tap ins.

I asked Grok about this:

Gary Lineker was not typically described as a "rapid" striker compared to most during his era. His game was built on intelligence, positioning, and clinical finishing rather than raw pace or explosive speed.

Lineker was known for his exceptional goal-scoring instincts, often being in the right place at the right time, and his ability to finish chances with precision.

He was quick, but his speed was not his defining trait—his movement off the ball, anticipation, and composure in front of goal set him apart. Compared to other strikers of his time, like Ian Rush or Marco van Basten,

Lineker's style was less about physical dynamism or outpacing defenders and more about exploiting space through clever runs. For example, Rush was known for his relentless work rate and speed, while van Basten combined technical brilliance with athleticism. Lineker's strength lay in his efficiency and predatory instincts, as evidenced by his 48 goals in 80 appearances for England and his Golden Boot at the 1986 World Cup.

Composure in front of goal and a natural instinct to be in the right place at the right time - we might see him in and around the 1st team squad sooner than many might expect.

Apparently Nketiah is out for months and so Mateta is the only established striker we have.

He might find himself playing Premiership football sooner rather than later.

We already have our own U18 striker Ben Casey who is proving a real handful for defences.

He runs them ragged, scoring two a game this season, misses a lot but getting better each time.

Looks like a duplicate casey to me.

😎

I think the guy you are referring to is out on loan.....or maybe that's another striker.
