D-Day May 7th Local Elections

I don't want to spoil the party but look at who runs most councils and then the second biggest and it predicts a Lab-Lib pact and the cost that the Liberals want will be unfettered immigration best to mention it now as the next event will be the G.E.
Of course. This election can't be seen as anything but a roaring success and a total endorsement of everything the government has been doing.

I wasn't too wide of the mark with my Welsh results guess.
Probably most surprised that their were no Tories in the south East of the country. Labour being wiped out was kind of predictable, but i thought maybe some people had forgotten how bad the Tories were. they are very English around Newport and Breacon.

You guys have been spoiling the Labour party for years.

I have had the pleasure and honour of being in the estimable Jacob's company on several occasions, he is an urbane gentleman, the very portrait of suave aplomb and a pillar of moral and linguistic rectitude.

Linguistic rectitude?

I like Mogg, but that makes it sound like he talks out of his arse.

Just jesting, he's a good guy.

His rectitude is a model for many of us.

Very nice of you to say so,i've always had a high regard for the government north of the border especially as they have loads of pasty looking gingers to look after!

On the campaign trail some charming gentleman said to me that akin to two starlets arriving at the same event in identical outfits, the Conservatives and Reform face the embarrassment of fighting the next General Election on indistinguishable manifestos.
I cannot think of a better reason to reject them both. The Tories must put daylight between themselves and Reform. Fighting for the hard right vote will only end in their demise. Occupying the centre and taking the right wing Labour vote and retaking the Liberal vote is their only way back.

Whenever I read your posts I wonder if Rees-Mogg is your twin! You both use antiquated language and have attitudes more suited to the 1920s than the 2020s.

I am sure he would be charming and amusing company but as someone to guide the future of our country he is a million days past his use by date.

Are you saying Rees -Mogg has sat on Jaggers sword? As Willo is Rees- Mogg we will not wait long for a denial ,he has certainly been hyphenated. 😉
His dad was editor of The Times when Mick and friends were staying at Keith's in West Wittering when there was a bust and they were at Her Majesties. William senior wrote an editorial on the theme of a Butterfly on a wheel and was a major influence on the outcome.

Interesting ,i was thinking something a tad spicier!

That's my fear that reform will just become tories 2.0 and farage gets ousted as pm after two years.
As scary as a Labour Green pact?

Reform is the only party that can get enough votes to form a government and bring real change.
The policy of the party will not be decided by a handful of former Tories. Although people seem to forget that the Ex Tories in question were on the right of the party and broadly in line with Reform thinking.

I'm beginning to think that people who are talking up Restore don't understand the electoral system or don't actually want a genuine electable right wing government. They want something else, although I'm not quite sure what. It's not happening. I know that much. Government requires a democratic mandate albeit in a flawed system. Reform just proved that they can get that. The Tories are toast. Labour are in free fall. The Greens will not get enough votes. The Liberals will never increase their vote share to anything significant.
The only chance for them would be a Labour, Liberal, Green alliance. This is why the Right must unite to head that off. Nothing good happens unless Reform have the most seats and can form a government with or without the Tories and or Restore, although the latter can only help by not hampering Reform at the polls. I doubt they will get more than one seat.
