Crystal Palace vs. Zirinjski Mostar match thread

You lost me we lose find fault we draw find fault we win find fault , you can only pass forward if players are available blind passing causes us more problems ,

We did get through them we did score and if sarr had put his 2 clear chances away it was job well done , instead of looking for faults look for positives , we are doing nothing different than other teams when looking for openings , we don't have a Eze , we used what we had and got the job done ,

£400m squad valuation v £7m should allow for some realism, rather than just a simple we won, so no issues here analysis.

Let's see how we get on at Man U and Spurs. I suspect 1 point from those 2 games will be a realistic return and you may be less positive. Happy to be 'told you so' when/if we get 2 wins!

Would love nothing more than told you so but I am realist we could get max 4 points but would be happy with 2 👍🏻

Overall we deserved the win, but at 1-0 towards the end they missed a good headed chance from a corner.
Small margins.
Positives were the good display from Canvot who looked more assured even if the opposition didn't privide much of a test, and some aspects of Guessand's performance.
He looks like he's willing to take on defenders and gives us something different from the rest of the squad.
I was also pleased to see Kamada making more forward runs and on occasions breaking into the penalty area.

I felt we played better than we have of late. At least we were creating a few chances, and should have scored more. Playing against the low block is horrible and expecting us to win by high margins against it is unrealistic. Only have to look at how Man City used to face it week in week out and would be happy with a 2-0 win.

Signs that the season won't completely peter out and perhaps retaining Glasner was the correct thing to do, rather than make a rash appointment.

Enjoyed last night. Good set of away fans.

Good performance. We looked comfortable against a team that had been strong enough to get to the second round.
Guessand was my MoM, although he is one of those instinct players who is better having as little time as possible. Given too much time he tends to panic and make a poor pass or decision. But he was our main threat and last nights line up is our strongest front 3 I think.
Wharton is going down too often, he worries me and looks like he is being overplayed.
Richards was a bit too error prone.
But we are getting stronger in this competition, after being too complacent before.

Somebody has just informed me that he watched the game on TNT. The commentator remarked that Glasner asserted words to the effect that Canvot has the 'Hardware' but it was up to Glasner to provide the 'Software'.
That indeed was the case.
I thought at the time I would prefer that the software was there in the first place as that can be more difficult to accrue than the hardware.

It was a shame to see Sarr fluff his late chance when he was clean through. He should probably have tried running round the mountain they had in their goal. But easy to say lying on the sofa!

I’ve been very critical of our team in last few months. However, I’m slightly more positive now. We would have lost these last two matches a few weeks back, so there is an improvement in my opinion. Yes, we still don’t look comfortable or confident at times but last night we could easily have won that match by 4 or 5 goals. Sarr missed a couple of sitters plus we were playing a side defending deaply giving us a lot of the ball. We won 2:0 and perhaps we should be more grateful and positive in our comments than those I’ve read on this thread. Tough couple of away games coming up and just perhaps we will see a more defensive side to our game and the odd breakaway getting us results like we had before the big slump. Not saying we are back to our best as in 2025 but I’m feeling better than I was 🙂
Me too. We seemed to be learning how to play when we have most of the possession against a low block. We showed a lot of patience; the WBs did what the manager asked - namely to play more conservatively so as not to give the oppo transition options. We found a way through to score on two occasions and did so to provide good scoring chances on several other occasions. It was a performance moving in the right direction on which we can build. We're not suddenly going to be back at our best overnight, but future games don't look so bleak as they have done in recent times.

It looked like he was going for the top corner, which is an unusual choice in a 1on1 situation, especially when the GK was still stood up and was massive.

Usually, the attacker slides it low under the keeper or goes round them.

The squad value thing is misleading.

Bosnia is not in the EU, so their players might find it harder to secure moves and a lot of them probably prefer to stay playing in Bosnia.
If they were an English team and players they would be worth a lot more.

There was an idiot who jumped the barriers from the main stand last night during the game and ran towards the holmesdale to goad the HF( defo not Parish 🤣) Stewards missed him initially but eventually he was jumped on! Have no idea who he was or his motive but hopefully he will get a ban from all grounds.

If he gets a ban we might expect Olly to be streaking around Old Trafford on Sunday.
