Crystal Palace vs. Rayo Vallecano match thread

To be honest I was so concerned about jinxing us by making such a prediction given that the vast majority of my prognostications prove not to match the eventual reality.I have a dire and abject record in this respect.
Playing the roll of aged sage, is one thing ,Ides of March, and all that. Giving confident predictions of overwhelming joy. That’s a lot harder.
What you do is entertaining Willo, power to your elbow.

I am certainly aged (74 later this year) but I am far from being a 'Sage' and 'Roll play' is not on my agenda on HOL.
My predictions on HOL are divorced from the reality, hopefully next season out of darkness cometh light.

Just joined to say well done, congratulations - a likeable club that deserve this success.

Also, I'm an unashamedly vindictive sort so I love anything that sticks it to that crook who owns Forest and the weird cult that has formed around him. Congratulations! Good luck in your rightful competition next season.
I am gratified by your kind and generous sentiments.
This is most kind of you - Thank you ever so much.

Not commented since the game finished but wow. What a ride. Thanks Oliver and the team. Proud to be Palace.

Our fans in Leipzig were amazing and have to say matched by the Rayo Vallecano fans. Sounded like the best atmosphere at any euro final I've ever seen. Sure the conference league has it's critics but when you get a final like that for two teams who've never normally get to that stage then it helps justify the existence of the competition.

Also a call out to the Vallecano players who went and stood with their fans for what seemed like an eternity after the final whistle. I guess it is all part of their ethos of the players being invested in their neighbourhood. Great respect for that.

Now bring on Juve! 🙂

I am 86 and lived in Norbury when I sat on my dad's shoulders at Selhurst in 1948.
I have often been critical of the team but I never in my wildest dreams thought we'd win the FA Cup still less an European trophy. So pleased for the players and especially for my fellow supporters.

Onwards and upwards next season!
Living legend! Reading this has made me happy.

Why not the Europa League and a league title push next season as well.

New stand can't be built quick enough

Funny enough, when we won the FA Cup, I was completely overwhelmed with emotion — huge tears, the lot. It was the moment I’d dreamed of for years finally coming true. The buzz lasted for days, and the media were all over Palace.

Last night’s Conference League win was brilliant, but strangely, I didn’t quite get that same feeling. Maybe it would have been different if I’d been there in person, like I was at Wembley.

Must say, thought the coverage by TNT was excellent last night

You know what. I had that feeling but I wasn’t there or Selhurst. Just at home. Also I was at Wembley so for many this could have been the first biggy. Albeit wow what a 13 months to be a palace fan. Never even dreamed it when I smoked a bit in my yout 😂

Completely agree about the feelings vs the Fa cup and last night. Last night felt more of a relief that we won it than anything.

The fa cup was different as we all grew up dreaming of winning it and it just has its own kind of special magic attached to it.

I think, for me, that even subconsciously there was a degree of confidence last night.

The FA Cup was our first rodeo, and we were far from favourites, so that made it unbelievable!

Nervous as I was, I somewhat anticipated the win last night.

Not had the chance to post until now. After the euphoria of the win I had a wave of disbelief. When I started going to Selhurst Park in the mid 1970’s I saw league games against the likes of Chesterfield, Tranmere and Mansfield. I just can’t quite rationalise what I have witnessed over the past 12 months or so, with the FA Cup win, and this glorious achievement in Europe. Nothing to do with Palace will ever be quite as exciting again, nor bring out the profound emotions of experiencing what I never really believed could happen, but still dreamed about. Don’t get me wrong, I am ecstatic about it, but it is a weird sensation, as if I know that my football-supporting life has reached its peak and everything else will be a bit mundane in comparison.

Btw Wharton, Kamada and Mitchell were outstanding, but huge congratulations and thanks to everyone who helped to make the last 12 months happen. Onwards and hopefully not too far downwards !
