Crystal Palace vs Newcastle match thread

Trying to look at this with eyes for next season, with Kamada going and being unlikely that Doucoure will be back to his best anytime soon, we have a problem in central midfield. Hughes and Lerma’s best days are behind them. Good to have but they are shadows of the players from last season.

Also, Johnson just doesn’t appear to offer anything and unfortunately Pino looked great against European opposition on Thursday but is just too light weight for the premier league in my opinion.

We are missing Sarr and Wharton. The question is, have we done enough already being 3-0 up that we can risk them here?

I think Newcastle realise the are playing an awful team with no goal threat. That was an awful half of football from us. They were terrible as well but as soon as they started playing we looked panicky and they could have easily gone in a couple up. Given we are always worse for 20 mins after half time this could be a long afternoon

Agree with everything you said.

I say bring them on for the 2nd half. 45 minutes should be good to keep them sharp while not tiring them out for Thursday.
I'm all about prioritising the conference but poor performances in the Premier league will dent our confidence as a team.
 
We do it all the time have great chances then concede , think johnson was told last till halftime he had a chance to run and almost stopped

Lermas contract is up expect he will leave.

Johnson is low confidence and not being used to his strengths and I would have preferred Gallagher for the same money. (Johnson is good player but not the way we play)

Agree Pino was hyped by many hear about his coming of the bench but he has done this multi times against subpar teams when it comes to to top ones he does nothing.

Newcastle are pressing us hard because they know we dont have quality in middle & our defenders are all over the place for the goal Richards was on that left side trying to cover Mitchell.
 
So sloppy passing the ball out from the back, we give it away nine out of ten times so it comes straight back. As for our defence it never looks secure every ball that come its panic stations or we fall asleep as we did with the goal. We are so poor in attack we just do not get in to the right positions and nobody has the instinct to pick up loose balls in the opposition box. Very predictable and no flair. We are not safe until the 18th team cannot mathematically pass us, fact not fiction!
