Crystal Palace vs. Manchester City match thread

3 at the back is a joke system and the club continue to chase centre halves and wide forwards yet the midfield is where the game is won and and lost and where we desperately need players of some quality. If Sage persists with the back 3 we will concede every game.

I’m not one for knee jerking but we’re going down this year -

This feels very toxic. I can’t see us breaking down teams that defend deep or holding out against teams that attack.

We’ve all the coherence of a Wetherspoons drinker at 10am on a Monday morning and all the steel of a wet fart
What after 1 and a half games 🤪

Everton away and Man city at home is not an easy start to the season. It is obvious that we don't have the squad depth or quality to compete in both the europa league and premier league - we need 2 or 3 quality signings before the transfer window closes at least.

I’m not sure I agree, Wharton and Kamada have been our biggest strength in this game no? Low bar admittedly but I feel it is our lack of defending and finishing which has cost us?

Yep. A bit like De Boer.

Sometimes you have to hold your hands up. Other Times - Your defence closing down is basic.

Personally I think Sage is a bit out of his depth here and we lack leaders on the pitch -
To early say re Sage but agree we lack leaders. We have sold our talisman, captain and then the outfield captain that replaced him in 12 months, add Munoz, Sarr and Mateta and that is a lot of senior pros.

It’s pretty clear Sage has no idea who his best eleven are. Not really his fault given so much uncertainty around players but the selection and subs have more than a whiff of a blind folded person picking names out of a hat
