Crystal Palace vs. Lech Poznan match thread

I agree. Whoever's doing this commentary needs to be sacked & someone who can actually DESCRIBE the action, where the ball is on the pitch, whether we're attacking or not, etc., would be nice. Not just a list of names of players who might have the ball. Pathetic - I stayed up to 4am to listen to this & can't believe this terrible stuff. Long silences don't do anything for me - sort it out Palace!
Maybe there's some problem with BBC Radio London not commentating this season, but this was diabolical. Get on this NOW!
If your out there, why dont you watch it on the telly?

Here's hoping but it does seem his skills are more suited to European opposition. No reason he can't adapt it he's given the opportunities.
I agree with this assessment.
He was at the centre of most of our good moves and it was noteworthy how he moved around the pitch rather than be confined to a that narrow left sided role.

It's clear that Pino can play if he's given space and time.
He's not usually afforded so much space and time in the Premier League- can he do it on a wet Tuesday night in Hull!

Luckily he won't have to

It's a Saturday (30th January) game

But I guess for the average Spanish citizen that will feel as bad as Hull in a hurricane on a midweek night for the rest of us

Another game where we look full of goals but also vulnerable.
Pino was superb tonight, as others say he seems better suited to European nights but perhaps this will be his season, it was an Eze type performance from him.

Great to see JSL working his socks off like he did before mateta returned.

Poznan fans were an example of how to support a team, fantastic. Can anyone honestly still say we are better without the HF, putting aside the politics, we are just another club now atmospherically, real shame

First time I've seen palace this season...

McNeil had a good cameo.

Nketiah continues to perplex. Misses the easy chance, scores the hard one.

Timber at the heart of a lot of the good stuff in the first half. Compliments Wharton well -who looks to have bulked up a bit. Kinda like rugby second rows who statt off all tall and spindly and then as time grows on they get stronger.

Yeremy starting to look a stylish player. Really good.

It's just the defence. Would have got punished if we were playing in the Prem. Need an experienced player in the Jan window (a la Cahill), but for me the positives are definitely greater than the negatives.

Up the Palace.

Congratulations to the boys getting a brilliant result tonight

Been on a massive sulk since the Ipswich game

This is going to be a rollercoaster season
If we are goner go it will be a fun time. The ten minutes of tip tap in the 2nd half was brilliant. Nearly set Mitchell up for a wonder goal. Maybe we should play faster as pino could find his mojo with that.

I know we got a welcome clean sheet but the amount of chances we conceded worries me still.

I would like our wingbacks to not be so far up all the time. Just tweak it to make us a bit more solid at the back. We arnt short on goals.
Our right is the biggest issue. Munoz used to slot in for Richard’s. He just needs to get 5 yards back to hold that point and it will stop a lot of the overlaps and doubling up. Poznan worked it out but couldn’t finish.
Albeit a good solid attacking display and I don’t think we will have many 0-0 draws 😳

Took our chances well for a change , defence wise if the 3 CB can play more of a unit and closer to each other then it won't leave the space in between , but you can see things are changing and playing the same 11 back to back helps , hope we do well at Leeds get a draw will be happy

Results wise very good indeed, however question marks remain over the defence. I guess we'll understand more with the game against Leeds arriving shortly - interestingly there were a lot of first teamers out there against Poznan and I presume they'll be ready to go again against Leeds, although last season the extra game in midweek was our league downfall.
Pino's strop for the penalty was mildly amusing, surely he knows JSL is the designated taker? At least is shows he is a competitor and wants to win. JSL handled the situation well and the penalty was top draw.
As for Sarr... it's a long way back by the looks of things although Sage is trying to reincorporate him it may well take some time to win over the fans and his team mates. He knows he's on the outside now, so it's up to him to make the effort.

Prior to last night, JSL had scored 4 and missed 2 penalties.
Pino has scored both his penalties, for Spain, in friendlies.
