Crystal Palace vs. Fredrikstad match thread

We're not set up to play against sides who defend deep, who block the spaces for Munoz, who don't leave gaps for Wharton's passes.
Our lofted crosses are easy to defend.
We have to hope they make a mistake or that one of our players produce a flash of brilliance.
All the players look about 10% off their game, although the effort is there.

they're no mugs, some real technique in their close interplay, we're a bit of a blunt instrument but are improving, this is no league 1 side, clever game plan and dangerous, hopefully we'll get an early one and a couple more, but be in no doubt this team cud do a smash n grab and nick a 1-0, different challenge in Europe and it takes a bit of adjustment. Generally I think we just need to move it a bit quicker. Esse for Devenny for me.

Well, the last 10 minutes were better but it looks as though we are really going to struggle against a low-block. particularly without Eze. IF we get through this tie, we are going to be seeing a lot of it
Lots of fairly poor diagonal crosses in with only Sarr's effort causing problems. Mateta is great but he doesnt match his leap to his height
If Lerma is taking the most efforts on goal, the team are in trouble. For someone who passes so well, Wharton's shooting is woeful
We really need to have someon who can run at the defence. Esse or Rak-Sayki have to come on for Devenny/Hughes if we haen't scored after an hour. I don't think we have had a pull back all game

Probably agree, unless Devenny gets lucky with a drive from outside the box he's not going to provide anything in this game. Not being harsh, I like the guy, but this isn't the one. Someone needs to overlap with Sosa in the left.

You're right. It might be patronising but they're better, better organised anyway, than I thought they'd be and they've got some big lads too. Hopefully they'll tire as the game goes on.

Tbf I was shocked at how many teams last season didn't just work out, let them have the ball and they've got no chance, think it might have been Brentford who set up with the low block against and had the perfect game plan to nullify us.

Fulham had our measure at Selhurst...

The number of players having a pop at goal, whether in a good position or not, I'm wondering if there's a 'book' running in the dressing room on who will score our first goal in European competition
