We struggle when teams play us and stick 11 behind the ball it's as simple as that.
However that's no excuse for some terrible finishing.
I've always said it and I stand by it that as much as Mateta weighs in with some goals he misses far more than he scores.
We could still be playing tomorrow morning and we still won't have scored.

That’s unfair. The boy made one mistake. He looked comfortable otherwise. We lost that game because we were poor up front. Mateta was awful. Nketiah was much better when he came on.
But outside of Canvot and not starting Wharton....it was basically our strongest side. Hardly weakened.
That's what's worrying!

No Richards, Kamada or Wharton made a big difference.
Big lesson for us tonight. Very frustrating. Can't believe we didn't score, yet feel we could have played all night and found a way to miss every chance. Also there should have been about 10 mins added on with their time wasting. Is kicking the ball away not a yellow card on Europe as they did it nearly every time.
It won't be the last time we play against a team with those tactics so we need to find a way to beat it, but saying that if we had taken an early chance it would have been a different game. Efficiency in front of goal needs to improve.

Canvot wasn’t terrible ,he’s made a mistake that has cost us .Everyone makes mistakes ,you get away with some and some you don’t.
He was pretty poor in possession. It wasn't the only time he gave the ball away and there is no excuse for not looking where you are going to play it
We didn't play well.
We toiled but were scrappy and there were a lot of below par performances.
It reminded me of playing a physical Championship side in a cup game and not breaking them down.
A game that shows our lack of a dribbler to go past people and create something.

They did a Palace on us. Hit us on the break. Their striker was clinical ours weren’t.
First of all props to Larnaka. A great moment in their history and won with the only decent strike all night. Our winless strike will be at 5 in five days time unless this lights a fire under the players. We are just lucky Bournemouth didn't park the bus when they went two up

Don't we have to sign him if he plays 10 games? At the moment £18 m is a lot more than he's worth.
We have to find a way of getting some goals from midfield, hesitate to mention Kamada but as good as Hughes and Wharton can be they don't score or even look like trying.

He will learn a lot from this game but there is no argument he was to blame for the goal and was nearly the cause of another. Knowing when to pass it forward, sideways, back, or into the stand is pretty fundamental for a centre half.
He did show some creativity and that shot he had would have been a goal of the season contender if it had been a foot to the left. It’s not all bad news.

We really are profligate. You can add Lerma to the midfield misfirers. Could guarantee he would send at least one high and wide after scoring for Colombia last week

I would have done even more changes to give others a chance and maybe because they offer something different may have scored early on.
People used to complain about Roy but OG has a lot of the same things about him and a big difference is OG has better quality players at the club while Roy had to use same players because he didn't really have a choice.
Canvot made a mistake it happens he is young and new you expect it.
We are missing way too many chances can't keep this up its going to cost us and we also make bad decision with the ball too often (Our lack of movement as well is something which needs sorting we are so poor when we are controlling play players just stand about)
Never should be beaten by a team like this tonight.
We really need to up our game against Arsenal at the weekend which should be a better style for us with Arsenal controlling so much of the play.
