Crystal Palace v Aston Villa - Match thread

That's disgusting from Watkins and the ref needs to book him for that. Goes down like he's been smashed in the head, rolls around, but as soon as he realises there's no foul and Villa have the ball he gets up as if nothing has happened. What a c*** rightfully booed for that cheating.

Give it time and FIFA will allow "special teams" like American football where a player can come on just to take a free kick or penalty, probably have someone who just comes on to take a long throw in. There will be a break every few minutes for a tactical chat. It'll go on for hours but think of all that advertising revenue.

I also thought it was interesting how quickly you can recover from a "hard blow to the head".

Absolutely freezing in the Main Stand. Somebody shut the door 🙈

Seems like a very technical approach from both teams. I wish our set piece coach would teach Mitchell how to take a decent throw on. It goes back to Villa every time.

The team are trying hard, but Villa look likely to switch things up a gear in the second half. If we just get the first goal, I’m convinced our confidence will grow, as will the crowd

I'd say we'll nick this in hilarious fashion. Last minute Uche goal from a crazy angle with his first touch. Something like that. After Villa spend the match camped in our box. Our only shot on target of the half or something like that. Fingers crossed but probably a hard watch.

I worry that if they get first goal ,heads will drop .
I’m not at Selhurst but it feels nervy even through the TV

I'd like a rebound off McGinn's famous arse. Preferably from the half way line.
 
Team worked hard. Lacroix and Wharton excellent. Johnson made good runs but understandably looks a touch rusty. Felt sorry for Deveney having to play out of position and it really showed as he had a very difficult half. Pino absolutely awful again. Just loses the ball every time it comes to him, not in sync on pressing. Offers absolutely nothing right now.

We did ok but, despite them not creating a lot, they outplayed us there and as we tire I think they will get a lot of chances from about an hour onwards. Unless we score early in the half I see them running out 2 or 3 nil winners

I’d love it to be Martinez trying to lure us in with his waiting to pass for ages, getting it wrong and kicking into JPM with the ball bouncing into the goal. As it is I expect Watkins will get a couple of goals in quick succession and that will be that
