Criminal Kids to be treated like older Criminals ? No longer handled with kid gloves ?

It seems to be happening in Sweden. Less chance of making kids anonymous during Court proceedings and giving them a light punishment.

is this development a good or a bad thing ?

Isn't that roughly in line with the UK? But not Ireland.

Indeed, true. I remember the Bolger killers being the big case. And there was trouble when people found out the names. I believe they're out now. Probably living the high life at everyone's expense.

One is now ok, the other got done for being a nonce and banged up again last I heard.

Should've put them both to death.
 
I always reckon that the negligent parents of these skank kids who perpetrate heinous crimes should bear responsibility for their criminal offspring.

In some ways fair. However, seeing as you're not allowed to physically intervene with your kids these days, how do you stop them if they do go off the rails? That can happen to anyone, not just skanger families.
 
we seem to have a very guarded and cautious language used by the journalist below. Very often you need to fill in the gaps about what the journalist doesnt say.

But we are certainly dealing with children, criminality, balaclava's, and high powered cars.

Initially, I was thinking of a shoot-to-kill policy by Heddlu (police). I rather think a better punishment would be to put their entire families in a barn and force the convicted to set fire to the building.

Then shoot them. 🙂

Still, it's a shame. However, we need to get real in Ireland and quickly. The country is getting rougher all the time. Whilst the media and the government live in ivory towers. You know, the roads where the gards come in 30 seconds. Not 30 hours. We need to do something. Voting out the shower we have would be nice but they'd just game our ridiculous system to get in somehow anyway.

Anyhoo..........Criminal Kids. Some of them are from political dynasty families. Surely We cannot take a morality-lecture from our politicians ? not when they too are doing violent criminality ?

The morals of our kids come from the morals of our society. No 1 moral would be wealth. We're looking at generations who know that they won't be able to afford to live, certainly not buy a house, unless they are rich. A good job won't make you afford a house.
Therefore, they opt out and look at easy money from crime. I'm not sure they even value their own lives let alone those of others.

Criminal age of responsibility is always going to be messy.

If you have a fixed age then some truly awful people will get away with terrible stuff as they are under it.

If you have flexibility then lawyers will coach the kids to game the system and get the judge to go lenient on them.

I find it illogical that the type of people who argue the age should be raised also want 16yo's to be given the vote. So if you are 16 you are too young to understand the consequences of your actions because your frontal lobe is not fully developed. But at the same time you are adult enough to make an informed decision about voting.
