Absolutely they are.

Playing across the back, towel assisted throw - ins that take forever, wrestling matches that go unpunished at every corner, ridiculous delays while VAR's are decided, set plays dominating, completely unpunished cheating by play-acting players, unpunished pushing in the back of the opponents while they jump for the ball, 'head injuries 'or other 'injuries' that are just an excuse for the players and manager to talk tactics on the touchline.

This is not football, it's b******s.

Honestly what kind of football are we watching that allows us the time to text our mates an converse at times, knowing we'll miss nothing?

Am I the only one who's bored rigid most of the time?

Perhaps the wrong thread but wanted to get all this off my chest. Sorry.
100% agreed.
I note that the Championship has rejected the opportunity to adopt VAR stating the fans don't want it.
With regard to Sky for the Premier League, they love VAR as it stimulates controversy and 'heated debate' which they thrive upon
I sometimes feel they would prefer a controversial VAR decision to a magnificent goal.
It allows them to demonstrate all their technology, camera angles, drawn lines, ref cameras etc and to bring in their otherwise underemployed 'expert' ref pundit.
Having players as pundits has almost legitimised cheating e.g players are criticised for not bringing opponents down, teams like Arsenal are described as 'clever' for blocking opponents at set pieces in the penalty area, feigning injuries to break up the rhythm of opponents.
I note that even in the old fashioned humdimger of PSG 5 Bayern 4, some pundits even criticise the defending.
I suppose they would prefer a boring 0-0 where the defending was perfect.

Im just confused why noone is picking up on why we signed Brennan. Because we needed a homegrown english player for ECL with the loss of Guehi. So who was avaliable and who could probably play from the get go and in an area we needed.

To bad it hasn't really worked out so far. But still early days. Im sure he will turn it around to be a decent player, but nowhere near 35m ofcourse. We payed that for other reasons.

Freedman is not a genius. He does have an eye for a good player and a lot of good contacts in the game.
He gets way too much credit for players that Palace have signed.
He's not a genius. He's not any more talented in my opinion than any other top scout or talent spotter. He's just not God like some Palace fans seem convinced of.
Fine. That's your opinion Eagle. You give Dougie a mark of , say, a 6/10 ?

my question : what mark would you give our current Scouting/recruitment setup ?

According to the French website FootMercato we tried to lure a new DoF named Gregory Lorenzi as a replacement for Matt "Hamburger" Hobbs but he took the job at Nice instead.

However another article I read said that he's only taking that job if they avoid relegation (which firstly doesn't sound true and second they look unlikely to drop)

I assume that prior to Dougie we’ve never had a director of football?
The closest that I can recall was John Cartwright as Academy Director in the days of Venables and Allison.
He was instrumental in the development of the Team of the 80's and created a pathway to the first team for our youngsters; Hinshelwood, Gilbert,Sansom, Murphy,Fenwick, Hilaire, Smiley ,Walsh and Swindlehurst .
I doubt we'll see the likes of that again.

I don't believe Cartwright was involved heavily in our transfer strategy , but he was instrumental in the direction of footballing philosophy of the whole club.

It looks as though the PIF bubble is about to burst following their abandonment of LIV golf. The investment in football hasn’t really worked. Wonder if DF would like a job back where his heart really lies and he was appreciated?
