Chuck Norris

Those with the reputation this guy apparently had usually seem to be. With notable exceptions!
Reputation? He sounds like an awful man.

In 1990, Norris established the United Fighting Arts Federation and Kickstart Kids. As a significant part of his philanthropic contributions, the organization was formed to develop self-esteem and focus in at-risk children as a tactic to keep them away from drug-related pressure by training them in martial arts. Norris hoped that by shifting middle school and high school children's focus towards this positive and strengthening endeavor, these children will have the opportunity to build a better future for themselves. Norris had a ranch in Navasota, Texas, and a bottled water production facility on that ranch, a portion of the sales support environmental initiatives and Kickstart Kids.
Norris was known for his contributions towards organizations such as Funds for Kids, Veteran's Administration National Salute to Hospitalized Veterans, the United Way, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation in the form of donations as well as fund-raising activities. His time with the United States Veterans Administration as a spokesperson was inspired by his experience serving the United States Air Force in Korea. His objective had been to popularize the issues that concern hospitalized war veterans such as pensions and health care. Due to his significant contributions, and continued support, he received the Veteran of the Year award in 2001 at the American Veteran Awards. In India, Norris supported the Vijay Amritraj Foundation, which aims to help victims of disease, tragedy and circumstance. Through his donations, he helped the foundation support Paediatric HIV/AIDS homes in Delhi, a blind school in Karnataka, and a mission that cares for HIV/AIDS-infected adults, as well as mentally ill patients in Cochin.

Martial arts heroes are always comic and/or stupid. And about as scary as a new puppy.

Meanwhile, in a real fight, the really scary feckers couldnt beat their way out of a wet paper bag.

- Josef Stalin
- The godfather

- Jimmy Savile
- Harold Shipman
- Rosemary West

- Gerry Adams

Chuck Norris was an eighth degree black belt in taekwondo, and black belt in karate, jiu-jitsu and judo.
Gradings and levels of black belt are mostly rubbish - especially the more senior the rank. Even the fat druggy Elvis Presley got to eight dan.

And David Carradine did the kung fu tv series cos his family was Hollywood royalty. Another plastic fecker who couldnt beat his way out of a wet chip-packet.

Action heroes are kinda like p0.rn stars. Bad acting interspersed with unrealistic choreography against a cooperative scripted partner.

He couldn't beat his way out of the wardrobe in a Bangkok hotel room anyway.

Action actors are often dancers, Jimmy Cagney and Jean Claude Van Dame (ballet) being obvious examples but also lot of the unnamed guys who get beat up by the hero have a background in dance.

To be a good dancer you have to be precise with your body movements so this is perfect when choreographing a fight scene where you don't actually want to hit your opponent.

Which was the point I was making!

That a lot of people had heard of this guy, via the tough guy memes, doesn’t mean everyone has. It just demonstrates the chasm that exists.

Thats not a chasm it’s just the difference between the only two types of human beings that exist - male and female.

Most males are aware of Chuck Norris. Many females are not.

So he was a philanthropist alongside his tough guy professional image. Good for him. He was still, apparently, a Trump supporter so something doesn’t fit.

This comment only demonstrates the actual chasm! Those who think that machoism is a virtue can be both male or female. Just as can those who don’t!

I didn’t mention anything about machoism, let alone give any opinion on whether it’s a virtue or not.

You quite often like to get your knickers in a twist. That happens when you live in a daydream unaligned with reality.

You didn’t need to. It’s present throughout the whole love in being shown towards this guy. Admiring someone for his toughness is evidence enough.

Chuck Norris has become a cult figure as an involuntary representative or vessel through which to parody this ‘machismo’ which you seem so bitter about.

He’s far better known by many for the intentionally comedic parody, than anything representing the actual man himself. Hence the prevalence of, and many only knowing him through the reference of, ‘Chuck Norris jokes’.

Have you ever considered that your bitterness and hatred toward any characteristics that YOU have described as ‘machismo’ is a result of the fact that you hold these as a virtue yourself? In fact you may know them to be virtuous?

If however, you have been too much of a weasel to live a life reflecting the characteristics associated with ‘machismo’, you may be seeking to attack and denounce them as anything but virtuous, at any given opportunity?

Of course if this were true, the last thing any man who’s too cowardly to live true to himself will do, is ever admit this to himself or others.

What he might do however is attack anyone who’s achieved that which he’s been unable to do, and seek to celebrate anybody who has failed as miserably as he has himself, to normalise and dilute his failure.
