In the world we live in today I find it so refreshing to see our players openly talking about their faith and even in the goal celebrations. And even in interviews Eze praises God first.

Whether you have faith or not It's certainly brought them even closer together and feel it is a large reason why we won the cup.

(Not looking to start an argument over religion or anything like that.)

Lecroix, Eze, Guehi and Ward all speak openly about their faith, I’m sure I have heard Lerma, Mitchell, Richards and Munoz do so too. It seems to go beyond the routine crossing of themselves that you see so many players do. There is a very obvious bond between this group of players and their shared religiosity seems to be part of it. Dougie always spoke about recruiting players with the right ‘character’ and I have wondered before if this was part of what he meant.

I must say, I find this all very life affirming. I don't profess to being a Christian. Yes, I went to Sunday School as a boy and church with the Cubs, Scouts and a Christian based youth club, but these days you mostly find me in church at funerals.

I guess not many of us attend church or worship these days, but we all probably try to lead good, honest lives, so it somehow seems encouraging to think that a multinational group of young footballers are so devoted to a life of Christian faith, prayer and worship in these turbulent, troubled times. Good luck to them I say.

It makes me proud to think that our club provides good support for them too.

The good thing is during a bad run we can really slag the players off and go to town on them… it’s fine, they will forgive us.

On a side note… if MG and Eze agree to stay I’ll become a Christian if it helps.

Praise be Palace.

Squad profiles tend to go in cycles. Recently we had Ayew, Sakho, Sako, Souare, Kouyate and maybe others who were practising Muslims. Bonds which produce a healthy dynamic in the team and provide an example or inspiration to young fans can only be a good thing.

Agreed re the comment around how refreshing it is to see the club provide a positive working/living environment for god fearing young men to express themselves on and off the pitch.

It's beautiful. And meaningful. And special. As a person of faith, it makes me love my team even more to know we share values. Long may that bond continue.

Plenty of good lessons for life, and purpose and peace when you have this in you. I admire good religious people, when it's directed how it is meant to be. If this was more common in cities the violent gang crime would plummet.

I can't do it myself because I just don't believe in God, so it's not possible for me to follow even if I'd like that stable path.

Careful or we'll be accused of ethnic cleansing!

If people want to believe in bearded sky fairies of any variety, that's their problem.

As long as they keep winning, I'm good with it.

I know 'JESUS SAVES' but I'd rather trust Hendersen who is a larger reason why we won the cup.

i beg to disagree. Most violent third World sh1.tholes are highly religious places. And much the wealthiest are semi-secular or not very holy.

Does the club have an official chaplain?

Also, is there an all-faiths chapel either at the training ground or at Selhurst Park?

I'm not sure I'm comfortable with footballers bringing their religious faith into the game.

Assuming there is a God, I don't suppose the result of a football match would be of much interest to Him. And even if it was, He would just as likely have been a Man City supporter on Saturday as a Palace supporter.

If there is room for politics in the game there is certainly room for religion.

"All inclusive" in the game until it's something you don't like 🤪

ah cmon. Its more fun when somebody starts a barney.

Q. Are you a catholic Palace or a protestant Palace ? ya feckin b....stard

A. neither. I am an atheist.

A former colleague of mine born and raised in Glasgow used to say the giveaway was when you were asked what school did you go to?

I find it very cringey. It's 2025.
I don't mind if they keep it to themselves and it makes them feel good - but I'd rather they praised the manager, coaching staff and fans than their faith.
I just don't get why they have to tell everyone - they're as bad as the evangelical vegans.
If I was Ollie and I'd spent hours improving a player and he then goes on telly and says it's all down to god, I'd think "Cheers mate" then walk off disconsolately and buy a new jumper to cheer myself up.
