Christantus Uche

Glasner made it patently clear that he wanted players to be signed early in the 'Window'.
What transpired was that on the last day Uche was signed and he has hardly had a kick.Whether he was foisted on Glasner is a matter for conjecture.
Guehi was about to depart to be replaced by Igor Julio who has only made 3 PL appearances from the bench for W.Ham all his appearances being late in games. The Guehi proposed move was thwarted at the 11th hour on the final day.
From the outside it gives the impression bordering on shambolic, however it should be noted that the purchase of Canvot appears to have been astute.
That must be why we started so badly at the start of the season, oh hang on a minute.

Will he, i don't think he has the flexibility, sideways move maybe, cant see any big club putting up with 28% possession.

We won 0-3 at Anfield with a shade over 40% possession - it's a pretty pointless metric.

Bayern have already approached Glasner so I don't think we need to speculate about it - he's clearly destined for bigger things.

Nigeria played their most important game for a long time the other day, losing their World Cup qualification play-off to Congo on penalties. Nigeria aren't the team they once were.

But Uche wasn't even in their squad, let alone their 11. If they don't think he's good enough, why was he ever thought of as a £17m premier league player? Seems massively over-valued.

And you know this how, they seem to be doing ok with Kompany.

If the loan is cut short the Getafe owner has already said they'll sell him. I suspect he'll be gone in Jan if we can get someone else.

So it seems like neither Nigeria or Getafe are that keen on him.

Best of luck to the guy and all. I am sure he'll do well when he finds his level, just not sure how we thought he was going to be the answer in the Premier.

JPM wasn’t all that and others have a weak history. If anyone can turn Uche into a top star it’s OG for sure 👍.
After 93 club games (up to and including his loan spell at Le Harvre) JPM had 44 goals in 93 games.

The Le Harve loan spell was successful scoring wise, so ignoring that he still had 25 goals in 56 top flight club appearances. (source: Jean-Philippe Mateta - Wikipedia).

I agree with you re Uche having something about him, but I think it is unlikely he'll be banging them in like Victor Oshimen any time soon.

I think some of this difference has to be accounted by the fact that JPM was only being played as a striker.

Uche has been all over the positional shop, with his most common position being forward within a side that's not creating as many opportunities.

My own take on Uche, from what I've seen of him, is that he's a forward line disruptor and I liked what I saw.....but being just a pleb looking in from the sides.....I'd like to actually find out.

So I'm happy to hear that he's likely to get some opportunities.

Me too. We should have plenty of the ball against Shelbourne so I'd really like to see him start.

I would rest Mateta for the Man City game (and does he look like he needs it) and start the front 3 as Devenny, Uche and Esse. Go stronger elsewhere but give these 3 some game time 🙂
