Chris Richards

According to the US press, after Christian Pulisic, he's the next name on the US team sheet. Maybe Tyler Adams not far behind.

That's really telling, as there's constantly "up and comers" and other US internationals playing for Juve, Dortmond, etc.

It was in deed an excellent penalty from CR. He looked really happy with his goal too… chuffed for him. He always look cheerful and seems like a genuinely nice fella. I’m betting he’s good value in the dressing room too.

I seem to recall an initial mistake in his 1st or 2nd game (happy to be corrected), soon after that he came in to cover for Cheick and has hardly put a foot wrong IMO.

Of course he is a fellow bearer of Christ

His first game for the club he was thrown in by Viera because of an injury to one of our other centerbacks (I can't remember who) vs. Man City. That was the game where we were up by 2 early goals and Haarland scored (I think) 4 against us. At least 2 of those were because Richards was behind the line and kept him onside.

I didn't have high hopes for him after that match.

That sounds about right.

I’m so pleased he has done so well. Love the earlier comment about Munoz ‘Forest Gumping’ it too. Very good whoever pulled that chocolate out of the box 😅

He is a deceptively versatile player who has played in midfield and in different slots within the back three. I never knew he could take penalties but he was first up last night and took his like a top Champions League forward.

I think he has got better and better the longer he has been with us, testament to the work OG and his team have done but also huge props to him.

I like the different style of leadership he shows compared to Guehi/Lacriox/Henderson. Certainly a key player for us now.

Did his name come up in the next captain thread? If not he's worth considering.
