Chris Rea

Excellent musician. One of those I'd wished I'd seen live (alive)

Bad timing for being Christmas No1

Driving Home for Christmas sort of passed me by when it was first released. I was aware of it but it didn't do anything for me. Then, I think it was 2009, I had the job of picking up my son from university in Gloucester for the Christmas Hols. As we reached the M23 for the last leg of our journey to Brighton it started snowing heavily, and what should come on the radio but this song, and it suddenly struck a chord with me, and I've been very fond of it ever since.

RIP Chris

Really sad.
One of my favourite musicians.
No celebrity about him.
Loved music and used what he earned to enjoy himself.
Good painter as well.
RIP

Great shame, poor chap was only 74. What I liked about him was the fact he drove a Caterham 7 and showed it on the cover of his album Auberge - I owned one around the same time. He tried his hand at racing without much success.
Apart from 'Christmas' he seemed a regular sort of bloke who wrote some noteable songs and played a mean guitar.
RIP

I prefer Road to Hell and describes the Christmas traffic and dog shyte drivers, including the cvnts who slip over a red and block the way for you to go across. Winds the shyte out of me, same as women who stop in traffic on a main road in front of a side road so you can’t get the fvck out. You know it’s the 700th time they’ve done it as well.

Sad passing .
I saw him a few years ago .
He did DHFC and we had a shower of snow ( paper ) at the end .
He did a few more shows after that but had to cut the tour short due to illness .
Always loved his music and a big loss .
RIP Mr Rea

I wonder who'll open Chris Rea's presents, and i wonder what people bought for him ?

One of my favourite musicians. When I was living in the North East I saw him live twice. The first time I drove down to London and he gave a very polished performance but the second time was in his home town of Middlesbrough where he was completely different as he was a real rock and roller.

RIP

But he was responsible for the building of a Ferrari "sharknose" 156 recreation.
