Realistically if we have either of Wharton or Kamada injured next season we are in real trouble. Really disappointed with the lack of reinforcements.

Well I guess we're hoping that the Timber deal comes off. That really needs to happen!!

Then to back them up is Hughes and Lerma... Though I have a sneaking suspicion Lerma might go to a Turkish team before their deadline closes but that's not based on anything other than a hunch.

Then the big IF, is if Cheikh actually gets back to full fitness then we should be ok...but that Timber signing needs to happen, otherwise I agree, we'll be up shi*t creek without a paddle.

Been saying this all pre-season. Wharton is literally the only one good enough right now. Kamada can add value going forward and Hughes can add value defensively...but really need a solid starter alongside Wharton that makes us harder to play through each week. Can't believe it hasn't been addressed yet.

IMO we'll still start with 3 at the back.

But if we are chasing a game I can see a situation where we take a CB off and bring in Timber to play as an advanced centre midfielder

For me we still lack a physically strong and dynamic ball winner to go alongside Wharton. The midfield either looks a bit lightweight (Wharton, Kamada, Timber) or lacking legs (Hughes and Lerma). I’d have loved us to have signed Sangare as his performers for Brentford look exactly like what we need. All water under the bridge now though

Sangare is an odd one, as Sage knows him well. And you'd assume that if we wanted him it would have been a relatively easy sell (old manager + Europe).

Would be interesting to know why we didnt go for him.

Timber will start - you don’t bring a Dutch international in to sit on the bench I don’t think. He looks solid and defensively strong to me.
