Burnley Predictions

In terms of xG, Burnley have been outplayed in every game bar one - and that marginally. They are on a four-game losing streak but will probably still think they could finish above West Ham and Leeds. They could do with signing Trafford back on loan in the January window
Without Sarr, and with Mateta misfiring I think we are going to need a scrappy goal from a dead-ball situation.
1-1

Perhaps the absence of Sarr could provide a shake-up?

Teams are beginning to find us out. We play at a fast pace with over-use of one-touch passing, all our free kicks are lobbed into the box and easy to clear. Why don't we use Wharton to hold the ball, bring it forward in conjunction with Hughes, and play through balls. Wharton is good at through balls but these are often played at pace and often miss the target. Guehi is also proficient at moving forward before passing and I think this tactic should be used to add the variety we lack.

It looks like in the absence of anyone else we will play Mateta and Nketiah as two strikers with Pino in behind. We don't know what Uche's position is or if he can score goals so risky to risk him instead of Nketiah. Kamada is versatile but absolutely maddening and I still don't know what is role is supposed to be - whatever it is it ain't working.

Two things are certain. We absolutely must convert our chances and arrange the 'wall' better than we did when conceding the Mount goal on Sunday - that was careless. It would also help if we stop giving away needless fouls on the edge of the area. Managing Mateta's time needs doing, he is often exhausted after 75 minutes.

Burnley are better than Leeds or Wolves but if we can't beat them then morale of both us and the players will deteriorate massively.

This a big, testing game for us.
I am worried. If we come away with no points due to lack of reality on our small squad and tired legs we will be continuing to look down not up. It is crucial we dig in. Take a point if necessary.
We have to change our stance today. Boot the conference in to touch. Play the juniors. Whatever. Just focus on the premier before we really run into trouble.
It is standing out a mile we can't do it all. It's way too much for us. Cut back re group and focus on the prem.
That's me.

it says we're on TV - looks like 'Sky Tennis'!!! Can anybody clarify so I can skulk off to another pub after I've lost at bar billiards again.

get your point but try picking a second XI - it's so weak. Canvot, Lerma and a youngster or Clyne at the back, Devenny and Sosa/Cardines as wing backs, no midfielders outside the four, so Hughes and a half each for Kamada and Wharton, Esse, Uche and Nketiah up front - and without ever playing together? To compete the way Glasner wants us to we need an extra defender and a baller in midfield and another winger. If we do get Boey and Willock then we need something like Sterling on loan to cover Sarr's absence.
