I'm not sure Farage is serious but I do like the idea of getting out from under the thumb of the Zone 1 Mayor.

Bromley is largely ignored and very underfunded compared to other London boroughs and yet we pay a fortune in council tax to Khan and have no say over it.

However whilst there is plenty to dislike with Khan's every growing tax demands and LTN's I'm not sure what benefits we would get by re-joining Kent or something else. The real problem is that government funding for Bromley has been cut yet again and the Tory government was no better so that wouldn't change.

Anyway if you can think of good reasons for Bromley to depart, have at it. Personally I think Beckenham should declare UDI from the rest of the UK and pull up the drawbridge. 😀
 
As far as I’m concerned Bromley is and always has been Kent, well my address for 30 years was Bromley, Kent and having worked on Bromley Post Office I don’t think I ever see a letter or parcel with Bromley, London on it

Same as my address in Mitcham. That has always been Surrey & even the post(royal Mail) still comes as that. On FB it comes up as Mitcham, Bromley, UK.

its defo a Kent culture in Bromley, not London. Its got some good pubs. Compared to London pubs, the Bromley pubs offer you a slightly higher probability of getting out alive at the end of the evening.
 
I seem to recall Bromley were lumbered with the upkeep of Crystal Palace Park. Maybe they want to redraw boundaries for cash savings , and less influence from Khan,,
 
Living in sunny Orpington, I always put Kent as part of my address. Just a thought though, will I lose my Freedom pass, handy part of living in London. If so I think I prefer living in London !!

In bygone days I was resident in Chislehurst and on an estate not far removed from the 'Black Horse' Public House in Locksbottom, both in the London Borough of Bromley.
My recollection is of correspondence addressed to me containing the words 'Kent'.

Yup this is what Farage would need to explain. What the upsides and downsides.

As for the Freedom Pass there is no reason why that could not be continued. Around the country there are various local schemes.

The main downside for me is that whoever is Mayor the money seems to be spent on inner London.

I remember the news coming from the Ramblers Rest on budget day to find out what your neighbours thought about the penny on a pint courtesy of the Chancellor

I frequented the Bickley Arms on quite a few occasions, and the Imperial Arms up the hill !
Not forgetting the Tigers Head, The Crown, The Bull, The Ramblers Rest and the Sydney Arms !
Oh those lothario days when ones 'Chipolata' was not flaccid for long periods !!!! 😛 😍

Takes me back to the '80s. Pringle jumpers, curly blondes and a little car park full of XR3is.
