Brennan Johnson

Forest got over 50 mill for him, they had no choice and Tottenham have spent big money on kudus and Simons, are they any better ? Not yet but when you spend that much you have no choice but to give them more time and I suppose Johnson would recoup some of the money they've spent.

On a side note, I remember being linked with his dad and thought he would have been a great signing at the time aswell.
kudus is much better

Maybe I'm being idealistic but IF we can win Johnson's favour to play for Palace,I can see him as a player who could be brilliantly nurtured by Glasner whilst being guaranteed the minutes on the pitch given lack of forward depth in terms of clinical finish - Johnson has proven the latter before yet is seemingly out of favour with Thomas Frank and maybe for other reasons? Johnson's mindset will prove to be crucial in terms of the fresh opportunity that is being presented to him. Maybe I'm also admittedly assessing the situation through my trade as 'teacher'... 😉
Because his overall play is poor why are we now willing to take tottenhams sloppy seconds. 35 million is just too much investment from a player that has lost value since joining spurs

Couldn't agree more. We'll end up with a Spurs reject partnering an Arsenal reject up front. And who does he think he is, ostensibly deciding whether Palace is good enough for him? If we swallow the rhetoric about how the Palace players are like the Band of Brothers, I can't see them warming to someone as up himself as this bloke sounds. And what a way to announce yourself to the Palace fans!

We got sarr in to replace Olise and it worked out well when we all thought he was a has been.

Arguably spurs best player last season. Lost his way a little this season. That happens.

I seen in the x post somone posted earlier Johnson had 20 goal involvements last season. If true that's pretty good.

Said this in Palace Talk:

Brennan Johnson is great for running in behind if a team is playing a high line. Excellent pace.

He is a great finisher. Makes intelligent runs and gets on the end of things. Two footed finishing as well, but right footed.

Negatives: his crossing is suspect, very inconsistent. The other main issue for me is he struggles to beat a man. He doesn't have a trick or feint to beat someone like a Grealish. This is probable the main problem. He will get the ball and if it is a low block play it back to the fullback or go sideways.

I think that's why they play the other wingers at Tottenham, despite Johnson's excellent scoring record.

He is more a wide forward, definitely not a winger really.

He may frustrate us sometimes, but he will get goals and be a threat. I approve overall with those caveats

This is a bit misleading and out of context for me. You use the word ostensibly, so fair enough that might be an understandable perception.

My family are all Tottenham so I know his story from them. I don't think he sees himself above Palace at all, more he is a bit of a hero at Spurs. He scored their winning goal in a European final. He was Postecoglou's main man and their fans don't like Thomas Frank at all. They were singing about him on Sunday when he got a cameo.

I wonder if its more will Frank get the sack in May and should he stay at a club whose fan base love him, waiting for another coach. He was undroppable for Postecoglou. They really do love him even with his negatives.

We are above Spurs, won the FA Cup, have a decent chance at winning European silverware ourselves. I highly doubt he thinks its a downward step although they are in the Champions League, he is not getting minutes

I'm not sure why but I feel uneasy with this deal.

Maybe it's because we don't have a great record with big money signings, or maybe because both Forest and Spurs were happy to let him go.

I hope I am wrong and Palace know what they are doing.
Well, Forest were happy to let him go for 48 million. So that is understandable on their behalf. Since then he was Spurs leading goal getter in the league last year, 'scored' the winner in the Europa Cup final and his fee has apparently dropped by 25% as he enters what should be his prime years. Like you, I'm not entirely sold on him but beggars can't be choosers

Don't believe all you read in the media. I expect he has options and deciding if he will get game time in front of Sarr. If he moves again and sits on the bench more than he plays, his career is over.

Spurs are in the champions league, economically compete with the biggest teams in the world and their expectations are far higher than ours. If you're expecting us to be looking at players too good for Tottenham then you're gonna be disappointed. Who do you think we should be looking to sign ???

If Franks bought Simonns and Kudos , he has to play them infront of Johnson.
Like Glasner playing Kamada (at the start) when he was obviously a downgrade on the in form Hughes.
What I’ve seen I like him.
