Bonjour Pierre

While i am potentially happy we have got the new manager position filled relatively early (this should help with getting the squad sorted for the upcoming season) i am slightly apprehensive on how, after a great first season at Lens, he has basically walked out to get a position that offers more money. Whilst i would probably have done the same thing, should Sage be successful at Palace (which we hope he will be) will he do the same to us?
The other slightly unusual thing in the Glasner era was the retention of Paddy McCarthy. I think this turned out to be a really positive move but most managers will generally want their own staff. It will be interesting to see how this situation develops.
The other aspect i am interested to see is if Sage brings in a couple of players who have played under him before. Glasner brought in Kamada and Lacroix which also proved to be an excellent move. As fans we get to see them both turn out to be top players and improve the team. From a coach's perspective they would have also helped set the standards in training and help the existing players get on board with the way the manager wants to play.

Almost certainly. But thats unfortuently the way it works.

What we have in our favour is the money e.g. he would struggle to get Prem level money elsewhere unless it was a top top job.

Their CB Sarr is a free agent this summer. Would feel like an obvious move, and would provide senior cover.

I hear he is insisting on keeping live crustaceans in a tank at the training ground just in case he fancies a langoustine sandwich.

*French joke*

Hope it's a British tank. The French ones only go backwards.
Now I have a crab wearing a helmet in my head.
At least he wasn't riding a bike in a hooped shirt.

Unlikely to be greeted with unbridled enthusiasm.

Shocking commentary by the writer who apparently thinks Edouard hasn’t played in the PL before, let alone for Palace! Horses for courses and I’m afraid Odsonne is better suited in other leagues.

Surely this is a wind up. Mr P couldn't possibly agree to let Pierre bring him back.

Anyway, I started this thread in the real expectation that an announcement was imminent. I hope there are no backroom shenanigans going on. Perhaps they were just waiting for the rain to stop. Potentially, maybe, possibly, very likely we'll hear something before the weekend.

Would be a good back up / competition to Larsen. He’s done well at Lens since leaving us but didn’t play well under Glasner as he didn’t fit into his system as a hold up CF. I’m sure it’s just clickbate anyway but if not I’m okay with it 🙂
