Bobb

I posted this on another thread about Bobb.

Don't get me wrong I think Bobb is decent but I can't say links with him fills me with excitement. Big club price tag, often injured, fairly lightweight and a player who's only scored one premier League goal in 26 appearances for City. Hardly amazing. If we do have 20/25m going spare I'd much rather spend it on Kees Smit and an RB.

I think with Wharton almost certain to leave in the summer, Kees Smit or a similar player is somebody we should be getting in right now.
However, Smit, we will be priced out of by bigger clubs.

I agree, but we have zero forward planning and our transfer activity is generally reactionary.

Is that right though? Eze, Olise, Wharton, Munoz, Guehi, Andersen, Henderson, Lacroix were all examples of forward planning and brining in players who could embed, develop and help us change style.

It’s fair to say we’ve sometimes left things too late in the window and that has caused problems. Selling Andersen so late being the most glaring case even if it worked out in the long run.

I dont think this was ever the plan. But getting such a good offer for a nearly past his player would have been silly to turn down. He'll be 30 by the summer

Forward planning, with regards to getting replacements in before selling Olise, Eze & now Guehi.

Guehi absolutely fair. Sarr was identified for a long time though and came in at the start of August to fill the Olise position in the front three. Different playing styles but then we weren’t going to be able replace Olise like for like.

Pino is supposed to be the Eze replacement. It hasn’t worked out so far but early days.

We have to remember that due to FFP and PSR it’s hard for us to sign players before we sell. Identify them yes but not sign them.

I think where it is fair to look at our activity is t he lack of back ups at full back / wing back. For a long time we had nothing to back up Mitchell and don’t really have much to back up Munoz now.

Fulham rumoured to be in for the man that will cost mor than a Bob, at £35m + you can safely rule us out of this one.

To be fair we paid £35m for Johnson. Time will tell who was the better buy.

Of players linked I really wanted us to sign:

James McAtee, £30m and doesn't play for forrest
Guessand, £30m not pulling up any trees for Villa
Tyler Dibling £35m not really properly in the team

No goals or assists between them all!

Think Bobb as a creative option is exactly what we need considering Pino's struggles.
