What everyone seems to forget is the key words 'sell on clause'
We have to pay QPR possibly 15 per cent for Eze and, if Guehi goes 20 per cent to Chelsea.
These are not insignificant sums ....
But if Guehi goes on a free next year then we at least won't have to pay Chelsea anything and if we ever sell Wharton (praise be please not) we should demand at least 25% S.O.C for him.

Even if Guehi goes for what we paid for him - which is probably the maximum we would get in January - then we would not have to pay Chelsea anything. In the greater scheme of things, paying 20% of the profit we make is pretty insignificant

This sort of thing Parish is good at. It isn’t the first time we’ve tried to sign the well known target, walk away and sign a surprise who turns out to be as good or better.
