Benteke

Not surprising really, he was bone idle with us and on easy street, I know Roy’s defence minded tactics didn’t help, but he didn’t exactly break sweat and try to make something happen or attack the ball in the penalty area when the ball did come over

Nonsense.

The guy was back at every corner defending for a start and why would you make runs into the box when the team is not even putting balls in.

We switched to the slow hold the ball football and trying to pass into the box which doesn't suite his game.

Just look at when Big Sam came in changed the system putting balls in box how many was it Benteke got that season 15-16.

The issue even today with Palace is service we don't really have creative options this is why people loved the time we had likes of Zaha/Bolasie/Cabaye & later Olise/Eze having a few creative players lets others get involved as well changes whole style.

I actually agree he was good at defending. I said at the time, he would make a great CB & by christ I got slated for it, hey ho.

I always thought Benteke was your man when it was an empty net and the defenders suffered from narcolepsy.

I saw him miss several empty nets. I think the final straw was two glaring misses against Liverpool at the Holmesdale End. He managed hit over from two feet out a few times. Which defies physics and all logic.

tippy-tappy. One touch football.

it has strikers alone in front of goal. The man is 3 yards away from the centre of the goal. And he has all the time in the World to convert the assist. Skying it time and again.
