Ben Chilwell

He won’t be going back to chelsea he has no future there they want him out cos of his wages he will go on another loan somewhere else. When he goes back he won’t be in the squad he will be training apart again .The whole point of him going on loan was to get mins cos he hasn’t been in the squad since august. He has no future at chelsea. He hasn’t played for chelsea this season .They want him gone. It’s very expensive loan though I think Ben is on 200k and palace are paying half. Cheslea have got rid of all high earners and Ben is last one
Sid, I reckon you're on commission to get him gone from Chelsea's wage roll 😆 But more seriously I do think he's a fine player and better suited to Palace's wing-back system than Mitchell is (though Mitchell is excellent defensively)

I wanted him to stay at chelsea but the owners are obsessed with under 25 players and Ben isn’t that and he is on high wages why they want him gone But me too he just needs a run of games that’s all and sure he will be quality. If you get too Wembley I see him playing he’s played there number times and played big games like champion league finals and played for England over 20 times. He probably just needs some confidence. He might show something in the little cameos soon and get a start. But agree Mitchell is probably better defensively.
When Ben played wingback under TT. He had rudiger always covering him he’s better on the attacking side

Well Sid Palace won't be paying anyone that kind of money, and we aren't, because you lot are forking out at least half of it right now.

I don't know when his "Chelz" contract ends, it could be one of those stupid decade long ones like you guys introduced, but unless it's a freshy on reasonable wages we will just find someone else. He's a stopgap/cover for us and I'm happy for Glasner to decide who to play there, and will be happy to see which actual bargain a la Munoz Dougie brings in. It won't be Chilwell.

It’s 2027 he signed another 5 years in 2023 and yeah he probably will go abroad or something he won’t want to take a pay cut aswell. But yeah it’s definitely just for cover until may. He mentioned wanting to play abroad someday. All young ones at chelsea under 25 are on massive 8 or 9 year contracts it’s insane on low wages

Yet you can't keep a healthy striker. The system Boehly and Clearjoke has put in place for you isn't working. If we spent 1+ billion we'd like to finish in the Champions League at least. I know you currently sit there, but I have confidence that you won't end up there.

I'm sure Mudryk is enjoying his multi-year contract, how's that working out for you?

I agree I don’t agree with the contracts they have nothing to fight for there is no experience
Ben was the last experienced player from marina time. Reece isn’t captain material he’s too quiet . I don’t think we will finish top 5 with fixtures left . Marcesca is very stubborn coach he didn’t want ben cos he couldn’t invert and only plays one way won’t adapt to anything
He sees Reece as midfielder when he’s one of the best right backs
The players don’t fight for the badge they have no love for chelsea they got rid of everyone proper chels
Including background staff from top to bottom complete clear out everyone is new
Poch walked from it all the owners want full control . Poch didn’t want to sell Connor and wanted other experienced players and owners don’t want anyone over 25
The owners want full control and wanted a yes man which marcesca is

And it wont be Dougie.

And the Blues agreed to pay half the player's £190k a week wages until the contract expires on June 30.

That means Palace and his parent club will pay £95k each of his salary per week.

Chilwell, 28, told Palace's website: “I'm very excited to be here.

"Crystal Palace are a club that's going in a great direction. You look at the last few months, with the results and how the team's playing, and it was a no-brainer to make the decision to come here."

I like Chilly. For the right money he'd be great for us. And don't rule out Mitchell going. Noise around big European clubs sniffing around.
I agree. He's not bad going forward and he's already looking pretty good. A bit of training now with the team and he's going to do well when we get back to business, in my opinion.
He's also not as bad defensively as some make out - he's not Mitchell who is amongst the best in the league at tackling and duelling. Again, not getting the credit that deserves.

Have to hope that time with us does not push up the valuation that Chelsea put on him. Also need his wages no to be too high.

I think we are currently paying half his wages (180/2) £90k per week. I could see us offering him a contract for the same £90k but no more. Depends how greedy he tries to be.

I would imagine that the possibility of playing regular first team football must have some appeal to him.

Especially given next year's World Cup may be his last opportunity to play in one, and, if he does perform with us I would expect Tuchel to bring him into the squad

Hmm, he moved to Chelsea, the home of bling / cash.

That said, has his isolation taught him stuff?

And do we take his comment that moving to Palace was a "no brainer" as agent / PR fed lip-service, or a statement of his genuine belief - perhaps even a message to the club that he is open to make this move permanent if they are?

I am still skeptical about whether his time with us will extend beyond this season. However, I always pathetically cling on to the possibility that he wants it, the club wants it, and we are playing him sparsely to encourage Chelsea to sell at a sensible price as a mere squad player.

Sadly, I don't suspect even Chelsea are so dumb as to fall for that one.

Same.

He might be a better going forward than TM, but he's a worse defender. He's also not made a particular impact.

I wouldn't want to pay more than about 50/60k. Which I doubt he'll be intersted in

Sid thanks and it is good that you put the time in to explain things. Fans want the players they know play for the shirt but owners and managers don’t. Will chilly play for our shirt do you think knowing he won’t be pulling yours on again ?
