I'm not trying to be annoying but he didn't particularly seem a leader when he was last here. More an occasional bit part who looked like he wondered what was going on.

Good acquisition. Free transfer it seems. A real upgrade on Sosa. Can now confidently give Michell some rest even if only part way through second half.
Agreed he is better than Sosa but not better than Mitchell.

Its great seeing Tyrick get some proper praise. We all know his limitations going forward though his stats often belie that. However, he is never injured, always at least a solid 7/10 and must be one of the first names on the team sheet. Not many, if any, better defensive left backs in the prem.
I was half expecting Man U to come in for him as a Luke Shaw replacement.

Absolutely. Especially if he's got a reliable outlet in front of him and can concentrate on defending. It's unfair that he gets a bit of criticism for not being more effective going forward but he's definitely improved and tries hard. In any case no one expected Bobby Moore to gallop down the wing and he was good enough at his job.

Mitchell continues to improve going forward, better percentage of decent crosses and has been taking on his man, and beating him, and playing clever one-twos to get a cross in. Defence is by far his strength but he is becoming quite handy going forward.
There's an interesting interview with Chilwell post signing.
He speaks of his 'discussions with Steve' and the role that is envisaged for him.
It appears that his role is as much off field as on field, mentoring the young players and being a senior player at the club.
I got the feeling that Parish wants Chilwell to be his 'eyes and ears' around the dressing room in the same way that Delaney, Jedi and Ward were before him.

Surprising that he's only 29 and that he's got 21 caps. No reason he shouldn't I just don't remember him playing for England.
Yes Patrick. I wrote something similar on another thread. He is unlikely to be a starter but the team needs leaders on and off the pitch for a culture and mentality to develop. It’s a pretty big job for Sage and Sarr and Mateta really need to pull their fingers out and put in a shift as Bellingham would say. 😀

He did the assist against Italy in the final and then Gareth went all defensive. He was bombing down the wings and crossing in those days. Then he had a few injuries.

I agree I like him, one position now where it wouldn’t be a disaster if Tyrick gets injured or seriously needs a rest, I’m surprised we didn’t keep him when we had him before
