Let's stop thinking about potential resale value all the time. What if we just were happy to pay $30M for a commanding centre back to come and be a key part of our team for the next 5-8 years. That's money well spent, surely. I am in favour.
Chelsea are desperate to get rid of him after buying our CB. Surely if we'd negotiated at the time before sanctioning the deal Lacroix deal then we'd have got a much better price.
I think he'd do a good job for us but at 28 any fee needs to be relatively low... Maximum around 15m maybe some add ons. Just hope we don't get desperate and overspend like we did in January.

Chelsea has had quite a number of these though, so no real guide to quality.
If he wants to come then this should have been negotiated at the same time as Lacroix.
So what's the delay? Club or player?
If Chelsea are playing hard ball then why did we agree to sell Lacroix?
If the player is hoping for something better then I don't want him. The Palace model should be players who want to play for the club, not players who have decided to settle for second best. (That's Everton and West Ham) 😀

It's a reasonable summary.
Perhaps Matsima was our first choice and when that didn't materialise we're scrambling around for alternatives.

With the other supposed deals for centre backs falling through, the clock's ticking down now until the new season.
Disasi offers Premier League experience, so he won't have to make that adjustment. He speaks French so Riad and Canvot will be able to communicate in that language should they prefer to. In theory he could be integrated quicker than some of the other players we have reportedly been linked with.
So I see the positives while falling short of being totally convinced by the player.
