Ashes cricket

If they are to be believed on the media, England going for pace Archer, Wood, Atkinson, Carse and Stokes, a very quick lineup, no spin, except Root.

With Wood, Archer & Stokes as delicate & fragile as a Forest fans sense of humour, we need some depth in the pace attack to allow for rotation and shorter spells, especially in the second innings.

Yeah, it's like an injury waiting to happen.

Imagine if two of them had an injury in the same match......We'd have Root and god knows who else covering as mainline bowlers.

Squad wise have the lions out there with some promising options and of course they have Tongue available who has some pace.

Are we talking cricket or Palace. 😀

If you were the Aussie pitch doctor wouldn't you make it a flat pitch which will offer something for spinners on the fourth and fifth days? Allowing England to get themselves out and the Aussies to be patient. Then use their superior, far superior, spinner/s?
Doesn't sound great when I say it - as that's the usual Aussie pitches.

Most of the Aussie commentators are horrendously biased, Jim Maxwell is too, but I look forward to his take on things. A couple of years ago they let him read some of the shipping forecast, great fun

I prefer it that way.

It should be tough as the touring side.

I just wish we were a bit more biased as well.

I think in the commentary box having a contributor from the visiting side is a good idea....And Stuart Broad is covering it over there in Aussie.....but all this holding hands crap and playing it down the middle....Na....Give me Boycott and Botham.

Has Boycott forgiven Beefy for running him out though?

Boycott's personality has never been that likable.....respected more than liked.

He's a required taste.

Probably not Botham's, but I know he respected Boycott.
I could be wrong but a little Birdy tells me that perhaps Boycott may not be a fan of Bazball. No idea why I might think that. But I suspect his commentary on getting a century off of fifty balls would be quite funny. His would take more than fifty overs.

I asked Grok what Boycott's fastest test century was and it wasn't sure but seemed to think none were quicker than 250 balls......that's 22 test centuries.

So I think you're probably right.

I miss hearing him though.....I liked the brutal honesty.

My favourite cricketer is Clive Lloyd who would have been skipper around then I guess
They were franky brilliant and miles better than any team now. I loved Malcolm Marshall. Clive Lloyd was f***ing superb. I heard they all play American sports these days; hence their unfortunate demise. West Indies were the team to beat in the past. Surely they were playing Bazball when you consider the equipment in those days. Modern bats are crazy for power. You do a forward defensive and it's like a straight drive if it comes off anywhere near the middle.

That's unbelievable I didn't realise that Malcolm and Clive were still playing, which american sport?
