The Ashes starts on Friday 21st November. England squad for first Ashes Test: Ben Duckett, Zak Crawley, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (captain), Jamie Smith (wk), Gus Atkinson, Brydon Carse, Mark Wood, Jofra Archer, Shoaib Bashir. So far the Aussies are disrupted by the fast bowlers cummins (captain) and Hazelwood being out injured.

Australia on their own patch are a tough nut to crack.
I expect to witness England batting collapses and for Australia to retain the ashes.

My prediction is that Brook will be the leading English run scorer and that Carse will be the leading English wicket taker.

Predictions on the tests is difficult due to the old age of most of the bowlers on both sides meaning that injuries are highly likely.....one of the reasons that England have the lions down there.

If they are to be believed on the media, England going for pace Archer, Wood, Atkinson, Carse and Stokes, a very quick lineup, no spin, except Root.

Perth is a very quick wicket and England want to take full advantage of a weakened Australian team.

Bashir in the 12
I'm sick of this - his first class average is nearly fifty. And it's not his batting average I'm talking about. Spinners can often bat a bit: his average is 7 or 8. Andersonesque batting with village cricket bowling. He's not the best spinner or even the best prospective spinner.
Australia will go to town on him if he bowls at all.
I've always wanted him to do well. I didn't fully disagree with the experiment but it hasn't worked. Move on.

His averages speak for themselves. And really it flies in the face of having to prove yourself as the best. It feels he's been given loads of chances. I'm thinking how long do we wait? Another two years? That blocks several spinners, some younger, who are performing better.
The Aussies wouldn't likely do this. Particularly for the Ashes.

He's only just 22

Interesting we're going for all out pace on a quick wicket and two of their front line seamers are out so maybe we can buck the trend cos don't we always lose in Perth?
