Arsenal Predictions.

Fine.

7-6 win to Palace. A rampant Eze pops 6 past us in the first half, but Justin Devenny, fresh from being rested since the Community Shield penalty, comes on for JSL scoring the Premier League's fastest ever half dozen. On the 93rd minute Raya is caught off guard checking his phone for the Man City score only for a Chris Richards long throw to bounce off his water bottle into the goal. Some terrible VAR reviewing mistakes the water bottle for the previously substituted JSL and gives it as a valid goal. Those with JSL in their FPL team are given the points for the goal, as are those who have a water bottle in their team.
Think your being silly now the water bottle is only going tobe a sub

If VAR relies upon physical movement combined with involvement in play, it's more likely to mistake a water bottle for Brennan Johnson. He'll be grateful for even a mistaken goal contribution, so will keep quiet whilst the review takes place.
He might ask it for some 1:1 coaching after the game.

Caveat: JSL was only in my narrative because he plays up top and it wasn't a commentary on his contribution.

Now you're just being silly 😋.

This will be a very unpopular view on here, but I'd almost prefer us to beat Arsenal than win the final if it denies Arsenal the title and allows us to concentrate solely on domestic competitions next season.
No more Thursday/Sunday routines with the squad being stretched yet again.
Bear in mind we are likely to be a weaker squad in the summer and also have the unknown factor of the new manager.
I think if you play with a back four, you have much more flexibility in the squad, Canvot, Richard, Lacroix and Riad could play as a back four, not a specialist wing back, gives more variation in the midfield or attack, 442, 433, 4231, 4141 etc

With the return of adoption of the long throw by many clubs this season, perhaps the next ‘return’ innovation will be a back 4 of central defenders!
Who would have thought of Pulis as an innovator.
I know Moyes has tried it this season fielding O’Brien, Tarkowski, Keane and Branthwaite as a back 4.

Personally, having seen Canvot ripped apart ( and subbed at half time) when stationed against Martinelli at the Emirates out wide the thought of him in that position does not inspire confidence.
I also wouldn’t be that confident that Riad has the pace and athleticism to play left back, but in any event we already have a very good one in Mitchell.

It will be interesting to see whether the new manager brings out qualities in existing squad members that surprise a few of us.
New managers can unlock potential in surprising candidates who erstwhile have been overlooked by supporters.

So you dont want us to be in Europe, so we can concentrate on the league, for what ? To then qualify for Europe and then moan the following season that our squad will be stretched ? Enjoy this while it lasts cause there's probably just as much chance of us being in the championship within a couple of seasons, regardless of what other cup competitions we're in.

You articulate the conundrum well.

From my standpoint I've not enjoyed the games this season, particularly the European games.
The football has been stale, predictable and lacking spark.
Sure it would be nice to win a trophy ( even a second rate one against a pretty ropy bunch of teams in truth), but in my view it would merely mask a disappointing season.

It may be that I view things differently to other fans on this - there is no right or wrong, it's just an opinion.

I think this might end being a dead rubber. Bournemouth are bang in top form and whilst all good runs come to an end eventually I can see them at least drawing with City, which will be enough for the goonars.

Not a prediction but I'd love to see Trossard sent off for a mix of diving and grappling at a corner (or any other mix will do). Horrible but effective player....

Arsenal, leading 1-0, give away a penalty in the 7th minute of added time when one of their players is adjudged to have had an arm across Henderson at a corner, preventing him from jumping for the ball. Johnson slots the pen home, Arsenal fail to win the title on goal difference, Arteta applauds the Palace players, Eze puts in a request for a transfer back to Selhurst Park, and a pig is seen flying over the site of the new stand.

Yes, Patrick the Everton line up was what i was thinking, the main thread if we start with Muñoz, Richards, Lacroix and Micthell as a back 4, you could put Canvot and Riad as Full back, so more flexibility, i have no idea how Kpora or Cardines will be as fullbacks

If city loose tonight making Arsenal champions would the premier league present Arsenal with the trophy on the pitch Sunday ? Could be fun if Palace are doing a lap of appreciation at the same time.

Sorry, but whether fans enjoyed our games in Europe or not. If a club suceeded to go to the final - they have done everything right up to this stage in the competition. And I hope that there will be no season more dissapointing than the current for us. But Ok, just my opinion.
