Are we bang in trouble?

So what would you have done to avoid this situation ?

Bear in mind that ;

The transfer window extends beyond the start of the season
Despite what some on here think, I don't think the club have the financial resources to replace the likes of Guehi and Eze until they know they are definitely leaving and how much that will generate
Neither player has been agitating for a move. But by the same token, Guehi also has the right to run down his contact should his preferred move not come off.

As for the paragraph that I highlighted, I really don't know where you got that impression from. I must have missed it because I recall no such assurances. I don't understand why we haven't grown the squad more over this window so far, but as I mentioned above, it doesn't surprise me that we haven't signed players at the higher end of our market as replacements for possible leavers.

It would be typical of Palace to screw up a good situation. This will be my 59th season and I've seen it time and again.

Last season we were bemoaning the departure of Olise and then late in the window, Andersen. Didn't turn out to bad in the end though and I'm backing Glasner to stay on and try to deliver another trophy.
I was using common sense, which is clearly a silly thing to do when it comes to Palace. Common sense says that if no new players are coming in, and our most successful – and possibly greatest of all time – manager (sorry, Sir Steve) has said he wants players in early so we don’t have the nightmare start we had last year, and the only arrivals are a back-up keeper and a left-back… then you’d assume it was agreed nobody would be leaving.

My mistake. One I won’t make again. From now on I’ll assume every player is leaving, we’re going to be relegated, and the people in charge know nothing about running a football club. But I really didn’t want to be that fan.

…now about Kamada.

My marker is the fact I thought we were already f**ked and was hoping to avoid complete embarrassment vs Liverpool, the champions who have spent 100s of millions of pounds.

As it turns out we beat them for more silverware. I’d suggest the there’s plenty of things to worry about on paper but we’ll never know until the window shuts and we’re a couple months in.

F all any of us can do about it anyway.

This time last season many harboured similar fears.
We lost Olise, Anderson and the hard working Ayew.
Fortunately the fears proved misplaced and Glasner put together a more efficient, if not as eye-catching team.

Can the trick be repeated this season with an even more demanding schedule ?
If Guehi and Eze depart we'll inevitably be weaker as a team as they are two of our key players, so it would depend on the quality of the replacements and how quickly they settle in and adapt to the system.
They may bring something different e.g the replacement may be more dominant in the air than Guehi, and Eze's replacement may be quicker and more powerful.
You have to try and seek the positives.
Sarr is no Olise but has been incredibly effective and made us more direct.
Lacroix doesn't have Anderson's passing range but is quicker and the better defender.

Now it's confirmed that we're in the Conference I anticipate that Edouard could stay until at least the January window with Nketiah's injury.

Remember how long it took us to get going. Can you honestly see OG putting up with the stick he started to get last year after so many weeks without a win etc.

Also we don't have Dougie to find the gems this time.

Being reported on SSN at the moment that Liverpool are talking to MG... So it begins.

That was not just due to players coming in late many other factors played larger role in our slow start.

Palace don't just come out with lists every few months they work of old ones Nketiah for example we tried to sign under PV and refused to pay 15m.

It is puzzling why we still have not replaced DF.

If Mark goes I don't see it as an issue and if we get cash for him that is good news better then going for free.

Eze would he want to go to Spurs maybe even so if its true his release clause has expired Spurs will need to pay a lot of money for him. (Still a lot of players and business to take place)

But unless they can guarantee him enough game time to satisfy his England World Cup hopes then he's unlikely to be signing this Summer.

However, if Liverpool think they really need him this Summer then they should:
a) give him those assurances and (more importantly for us)
b) stop trying to lowball us and pay what we want and get it done quick.

Otherwise they should look elsewhere

Waca Waca who gives a f*** we won the fa cup. I’m complete 👍

I can picture it twenty years from now:

The press and footballing world: Huge respect to Palace for their FA Cup, League and Champions League treble.

The Holmesdale Online: Jeez, we're really f*cked, aren't we?
Can you make it 10, I am not sure I can make it much longer. And you forgot about Franca being the oldest ever Ballon D'Or winner

Surely we won't sell Mateta as well as Eze and MG.

I could handle just about mg and Eze, but our goalscorer too.
Dont worry we still have Edouard .

How much of that was late signings vs Euros?

If we lose MG, Lerma steps straight in. Not as good, but knows what he needs to do and is ready to go.

If we lose Eze, that will be a bit tricker with Esse or replacement having to get going quickly.

No we are not "bang in trouble" nor are we "stagnating" nor was last season "dull".

All three of the above opinions from HOL posters are trully face palm moments. WTF is the matter with some of you? Get a grip

In case it needs reminding to some we have:
The best chairman ever
The best manager ever
The best team ever
The oldest stand ever

The only issue as such is that lids are removed from bottles of water!
Quick tip, bring a lid with you. They are pretty universal and the patdowns on the turnstyle are so bad they couldn't find an AK47 in your coat pocket.

So it’s all over Talksport and media that Spurs are in talks with Eze and the Chairman is saying that if MG won’t sign an extension then he will be sold.

With this in mind I can see OG walking. How can he expect to get us playing with 2 of our main players going and absolutely f*** all coming in. Ffs.

I really was under the impression/assumed that assurances had been made that none of the players would be sold and that’s why no signings had been a priority. That was the only thing that made sense of the fact that nothing was happening on the transfer market.

However if it now transpires that Eze and MG are indeed going we are really in trouble. The f***ing season starts in 5 days for us. This really does border on complete self destruction. No way we keep the most successful manager if this is the case. Why would he stay and put up with it?

I really hope it’s just bollocks but can’t help feeling it’s true.

Only Palace would f*** the team up when it is at its most successful. It is criminal that nobody came in with time to bed in again. It’s self harm on an epic scale.
I think the club have no liquid funds to splash on new players so either the squad stays together (with a couple of cheapies/loans added) or one will go and the money will be spent on players we have lined up. I imagine we'll get £40m ish for Guehi. If so Eze stays put and we sign a couple of £20m players. If someone offers top money for Eze we have a problem because we need the money for transfers but we cannot afford to let Guehi leave for free next year. Even Glasner understands that.
