Archbishop Of Canterbury Resigns

Time to disestablish the Church of England.

We are the only European democracy that doesn't separate church and state so puts us on the same level as Iran and Saudi Arabia.

If faith leaders want to involve themselves in politics let them stand for election.
You mean we are the only European democracy that does not have a written constitution that officially separates church and state?

The head of state is also the head of the "official" church; there are clerics of various faiths in the Lords who, thus, exercise (largely cosmetic) executive power; and the executive often consult and have to listen to the input of the religious, albeit as one of many voices to inform policy.

That is a long way from a theocracy or anything like it. We have effective separation in all but name.

I see the Archbishop of York is now under pressure to stand down following Welby's resignation for similarly ignoring bullying allegations.

The Church needs an overhaul.

You would think that the other major faiths would be against an established church, they are not.

Because 24 Bishops sit in the lords and pass judgement we also have to put up with leaders from the other faiths to balance it out.

We are not a theocracy but the church really does have power. Allowing unelected faith leaders to sit in our legislature is not a separation of church and state.

It's why the Lords must be abolished and replaced with an elected chamber. I don't care if Welby wants to meddle in politics he can take his bumps and bruises with the electorate like any other candidate.
